Forensic Scientist In OJ Simpson And JonBenét Ramsey Cases Gave Explosive Last Confession Before Passing

Reportedly, Lee used this final interview to addresslong-standing allegationsofevidence fabricationin several cases, attempting to clear his name and reputation.

The resurfaced claims have reignited controversies surrounding his work, leaving many wondering whether this revelation could change how his legacy is remembered.

One user wrote, "I think Lee loved the fame more than he enjoyed the science. These arenot simple mistakes that he made."

Dr. Henry C. Lee was at the peak of his career from the mid-1980s through the late 1990s, a period during which he became a household name for his work on the O. J. Simpson case and several other high-profile investigations.

He served as the Director of the Connecticut State Police Forensic Science Laboratory from 1978 to 2000 and was appointed the state's Commissioner of Public Safety from 1998 to 2000, becoming the first Chinese American to hold such a position.

He also reportedly founded the Forensic Science program at the University of New Haven in 1975 and later established the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science in 1998.

At the age of 87, Lee "passed away peacefully" at his home in Henderson following a brief illness, according to a public statement by his family.

A few years prior to his passing, the long-standing reputation he had built began to crack when several allegations of evidence fabrication surfaced in high-profile cases, even leading to a wrongful conviction.

Reportedly, in 2023, a federal judge found Lee liable for fabricating evidence, specifically regarding bloodstains on a towel, in a 1985 case that led to thewrongful convictionof two Connecticut men.

After serving over three decades in prison for a crime they allegedly did not commit, the state eventually reached a $25.2 million settlement with the men.

Addressing the case and the ruling, Lee told reporters at the time, "In my 57-year career, I have investigated over 8,000 cases and never, ever was accused of any wrongdoing. This is the first case that I have to defend myself."

In 2007, during the trial of music producer Phil Spector, Lee faced similar accusations, withclaims that he hidor destroyed a key piece of evidence from the scene where actress Lana Clarkson was fatally sh*t.

Prosecutors alleged at the time that during a search of Spector's home, Lee found and pocketed a "small white object," believed to be a piece of Clarkson's acrylic fingernail.

"I can't imagine how Lee could sleep at night knowing his false testimony sent two innocent men to prison for thirty years," fumed one netizen

The judge concluded that Lee had indeed removed and withheld the item from the prosecution.

Phil was later charged with and found guilty of second-degree m**der charges and was sentenced to 19 years to life in prison, where he reportedly passed away in 2021.

These allegations, along with others, have tainted Lee's legacy, casting doubt among netizenson nearly every case he was involved in.

Comments like, "We found out years ago he would fabricate evidence and say whatever someone wanted him to if he was paid enough," and "Hemade up things. He lied," flooded social media for years.

Now, shortly after his passing, his final public interview, part of an investigative documentary project, has resurfaced, aiming to examine Lee's career and the growing concerns surrounding his forensic work.

While the specific title of the documentary has not been publicized, an insider toldNew York Postthat Lee, while addressing the allegations, said in the interview, "Logic is the bottom line for law enforcement. But I only did one thing in my life. It's to make the impossible be possible."

Meanwhile, a former student of Henry, Brent Turvey, now a forensic scientist and criminologist, told the outlet, "He got famous for getting results that no one else could."

An insider allegedly told theNew York Postwhat Lee's final confession was before his passing last week at the age of 87

"The problem is the pressure and celebrity of doing a great job and living up to themyth of the forensicsof Henry Lee."

He added, "[The Pressure] obviously got to him and he got to the point where he couldn't live up to that image. So, he just kept giving answers without doing examinations."

Turvey concluded by recalling a quote from Lee's commencement speech at the University of New Haven, saying, "He said, 'Just remember, it takes 25 years to build a good name and 25 seconds to destroy it.' He was always speaking out against fraud, always speaking out against negligence and incompetence."

"But, as we now know, that was a confession ofguiltto what he did in practice."

"Most of his work was exceptional however he did enjoy the publicity," wrote one social media user

Jenny McCarthy does not subscribe to the theory that her ex Jim Carrey has been cloned, which the internet suspected following the rubber-faced comedian's appearance at last month's César Awards.

"It was definitely Jim Carrey," the *John Tucker Must Die* alum confirmed to PEOPLE.

She was struck by his upbeat manner.

"He looked very happy at that award show," McCarthy said at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on March 26. "And I was happy for him. That's the first thing I noticed. I said, 'Oh wow, Jim looks really happy.'"

McCarthy's husband since 2014, Donnie Wahlberg, commented, "You know, that's the part that, sadly, people miss, We're so obsessed with how he looks that we didn't consider how happy he looked."

In fact, some people were taken aback by the rare appearance, in which they argued that Carrey looked different... too different.

Carrey himself confirmed to ** through his rep that, yep, that was indeed the star of *Ace Ventura: Pet Detective*, *Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind*, *Man on the Moon*, and other movies accepting an honorary award, which Julia Roberts won last year, at the Paris ceremony.

Suspicions were so persistent that Gregory Caulier, the general delegate of the César Awards, came out and said that, yep, that was the Grinch himself.

"Jim Carrey's visit has been planned since this summer. From the outset, he was extremely touched by the Academy's invitation," Caulier told *Variety*. "Eight months of ongoing, constructive discussions. He worked on his speech in French for months, asking me about the exact pronunciation of certain words."

The awards show official added that Carrey "came with his partner, his daughter, his grandson, and 12 close friends and family members. His longtime publicist accompanied him. His old friend Michel Gondry, who has made a film and two series with him, was there, and they were delighted to see each other again."

It was "a non-issue" for Caulier, he said. "I just remember his generosity, his kindness, his benevolence, his elegance."

Carrey's most recent acting appearance was in 2024's *Sonic the Hedgehog 3*, in which he reprised his role as the evil Dr. Robotnik. He's expected to do it again in the fourth film in the franchise, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters in March 2027.

Lizzo must have been thinking "it's about damn time."

The singer has confessed that she was in her 30s before she lost her virginity, honoring a pact she made two decades earlier.

"I promised myself when I was younger that I wouldn't have sex until I won a Grammy," she revealed on the *Friends Keep Secrets *podcast, shocking hosts Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco.

Lizzo, now 37, won her first Grammy in 2020. She took home three awards that night: Best Pop Solo Performance ("Truth Hurts"), Best Urban Contemporary Album (deluxe version of *Cuz I Love You*), and Best Traditional R&B Performance ("Jerome").

She didn't make good on her promise the night of the Grammys; however, it wasn't long after.

But before she marked the milestone rite of passage, "I lied about it for a long time," admitted Lizzo. "I feel a weight off of my chest right now."

Recalling her college days at the University of Houston, the singer shared an embarrassing moment among her friend group.

"We were all girling one night, and it was like, 'Wait, Lizzo, are you a virgin?' And I remember being like, 'No!'" she said. "I was remember it was so embarrassing. I said, 'I love the D'… And it held me over for a little while."

The self-admitted late bloomer also didn't share her first kiss until she was 21.

The delay was "religious," Lizzo explained. "Like, when we were teenagers at my church, we all made a pact that we wouldn't do anything before marriage. And then, I was just so scared. Like, nobody wanted to kiss me."

When someone finally did, it was "terrible," she complained.

Since 2021, she's dated comedian Myke Wright, who she first met back in 2016 when the pair hosted the MTV music series *Wonderland*, but there were no sparks at the time, she said.

(AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite) ()

WASHINGTON (AP) — TMZ built its brand tracking celebrities. Now it's turning its attention to Congress, chasing down paparazzi-style shots of lawmakers on break from Washington during a record-long partial government shutdown.

Videos and photos posted by the tabloid website showing lawmakers in airports, Las Vegas and even Disney World have racked up millions of views and fueled a growing backlash. With travel disruptions persisting and some federal workers going without pay, pressure is mounting on Congress to cut short its regularly scheduled recess.

Beyond TMZ, President Donald Trump also wants lawmakers to come back, even hinting he might invoke rarely used powers to call Congress into session.

Still, it's not clear what a return would accomplish, with the 45-day partial government shutdown at a deeper impasse than ever. The Senate reached a bipartisan funding deal last week, but House Speaker Mike Johnson rejected it, and House Republicans passed their own version before heading for the exits.

"I'm not sure that we'd come," Democratic Sen. Chris Coons said Monday when asked about members being called back. "And I'm not sure that there would be any difference from what's happened so far."

On recess — and on camera

As lawmakers headed out of Washington last week, the celebrity-gossip outlet TMZ put out a call.

"TMZ is on the hunt for photos of politicians on vacay as TSA officers suffer!" the outlet said in a social media post.

The focus from TMZ — an outlet known more for capturing unflattering footage of celebrities than digging into the nuances of federal policy — was the latest example of how politics is being fueled by viral images and populist sentiment.

Videos quickly followed, showing senators moving through airports — often attempting to shield themselves from cameras — with provocative headlines layered on top. The clips racked up millions of views.

The outlet didn't stop there. Photos of lawmakers on vacation soon followed, including viral images of Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham at Disney World with captions such as: "Lindsey Graham lives it up at Disney World during the partial government shutdown!"

Graham said that he had been in Florida for a meeting with Trump administration officials and had made a stop at Disney World with a friend. He also blamed Democrats for the shutdown.

Another widely shared post showed Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia in Las Vegas.

"Actually I don't mind what TMZ is doing here," Garcia posted in response, adding that he was visiting his father. "Like I said a few days ago, Speaker Mike Johnson should have never sent us all home."

The effort grew out of frustration, said TMZ executive producer Harvey Levin, after the outlet interviewed a TSA worker struggling due to missed paychecks during the shutdown.

"It outraged us so much we wanted to use our platforms to show how Congress — Dems AND Republicans — have betrayed us," Levin said in a statement.

He added that lawmakers shouldn't expect the coverage to end anytime soon.

"Several months ago we decided to amp up our presence and our voice," Levin said. "We now have a producer and a photog circulating in the Capitol, showing the intersection between politics and pop culture."

Pressure mounts on Congress to return

The backlash playing out online is fueling other pressure as well. Trump has called on Congress to return. He spoke with Senate Majority Leader John Thune on Sunday and Monday, and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said he has urged leadership to cancel recess "repeatedly."

"He'll host a big Easter dinner here at the White House if Congress will come back," she added.

So far, Republican leadership has not blinked, raising questions about how much pressure Trump will ultimately apply — and whether he would be willing to concede ground to Democrats to end the shutdown.

Unions are adding to that pressure.

"To leave Washington while tens of thousands of workers are going without pay shows a clear lack of respect for the essential employees tasked with keeping our nation safe," said Hydrick Thomas, president of the American Federation of Government Employees TSA Council 100.

Although vacation snapshots have stirred outrage, recess is also an opportunity for lawmakers to reconnect with constituents back home. Some hold town hall events. Others go on trips abroad, such as joining a delegation to Taiwan.

Why the funding impasse won't be easy to solve

Even if lawmakers return to Washington, there isn't an easy way out of the funding impasse.

Senators already labored for weeks to try to find agreement on Democrats' demand that any funding for the Department of Homeland Security come with restrictions on how federal immigration agents conduct enforcement. In vote after failed vote, Democrats showed they wouldn't budge.

As the partial government shutdown extended to the longest in U.S. history, the Senate settled on a last-ditch effort to fund most of DHS while leaving out money for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Border Patrol.

But that deal was rejected by Johnson in the House, who instead pushed through a bill to extend DHS funding on a party-line vote. The collapse of the bipartisan agreement has soured the mood for negotiations and left lawmakers pointing fingers.

"There's no point in calling us back because that was the result of a conscious choice by the Republican majority," said Coons, a Delaware Democrat.

Johnson, a Louisiana Republican, told Fox News on Tuesday that the House can come back "on a moment's notice," but "the Senate has to do their job and help us on this heavy lift."

But Thune, a South Dakota Republican, has been clear that he sees no way to get a DHS funding bill through the Senate with its 60-vote threshold for advancing legislation, known as the filibuster.

Still, Thune is coming under renewed pressure to find a way past the funding impasse — with calls from Trump and some conservatives to get rid of the filibuster.

That's unlikely to work either because of a handful of Republican senators who have made it clear they won't vote to change the Senate's rules. Still, Trump told reporters Sunday night that, "They should terminate the filibuster and they should vote."

Sen. Mike Lee, a Utah Republican, agreed. He said on social media that he thinks one of the only options for the Senate is to "nuke the filibuster and pass everything."

"Inaction is unacceptable," he added.

Jennifer Lopez is a masterclass on how to dress to impress, no matter how casual the occasion. While accompanying her child, Emme, as they got a haircut in Beverly Hills, the singer wore an all-black-everything ensemble and looked incredibly chic in a satin scoop-neck blouse and pencil skirt. Naturally, all of her accessories were designer, including the pair of black mesh flats that kept the look semi-low key for a trip to the salon (and that we are now obsessing over).

JLo's shoes are the Christian Louboutin Galativi Mesh Flats. An exact pair is hard to come by, though even if you can snag your size on a site like Poshmark or TheRealReal, the flats will still set you back a couple of hundred dollars. Luckily, we found a similar point-toe mesh flat on Amazon that looks just as luxurious without the cringe-inducing couture price.

While you certainly don't have to dress to the nines for a routine cut and color, swapping out your trusted pair of sneakers for mesh flats will definitely elevate a typical running errands outfit. The investment is twofold: If you're stepping out in a t-shirt and jeans, mesh flats will effortlessly enhance your overall appearance. If your everyday aesthetic is semi-formal like Jenny from the Block's satin tank and pencil skirt, the shoes can offer you a bit of comfort, whilst still maintaining a polished impression.

We're Obsessed! Jennifer Aniston Gave Loafers a Polished Upgrade, and the Look Is Just $38

The Reitoye Flats have rubber soles and faux leather lining, with mesh encompassing the entire foot. The insole is cushioned, offering arch support, and made from cowhide, an optimal material for the spring and summer months when sweat is common. The pointed-toe flats also come in a range of sizes (including some halves), from a U.S. 6 to a U.S. 12, and cost only $46 – a fraction of the Louboutins.

According to reviewers, the shoes look even better in person. One commenter noted, "they're very stylish," and says the cutout design "adds a little something to an otherwise basic shoe." Another added that, in addition to the look of the shoe, the flat is also (and, arguably, more importantly) comfortable: "I have wide feet, so I got an 8.5 instead of a regular 8 since these are pointy-toed. And they fit really well! No slipping off the heel and no squishing my toes."

Lopez's everyday style is unmatched. Though the actress tends to wear designers on the regular, don't be fooled by the rocks that she's got. We were able to find an Amazon version of her coveted mesh flats for only $41! A steal that, we think, Jenny from the Block would approve of.
