During the discussion, Michael Feinstein — the moderator and Minnelli's longtime collaborator — said that the legendary performer had a number of husbands over the course of her lifetime.
"Well, who hasn't?" Minnelli quipped, eliciting laughs from the audience.

Minnelli — who has been married and divorced four times to Peter Allen, Jack Haley Jr., Mark Gero and David Gest over the decades — recently opened up to PEOPLE about what she had learned from her nuptials.
"You think this is it," the musical icon told PEOPLE in March about each new relationship.
"It's not it," she continued with a laugh, adding, "It's just not."
At another point during the recent L.A. event, the Oscar winner recalled what it was like growing up with her famous mother, Judy Garland.

"I just ran when she got mad," Minnelli said with a laugh, adding that most people don't realize that in addition to being a great singer, Garland was also incredibly funny.

The star also said that, despite being the daughter of titans in the film industry (Minnelli's father was famed director Vincente Minnelli), she always knew she wanted to forge her own path.
"My best friend in like third grade was a wonderful dancer. Oh, she was great. And her name was Tanya Everett … You should've seen her! [She] just exploded onstage. And I thought, 'That's what I want to do. I want to be like her.' Not like my mother or father," she explained.
However, Minnelli said that she inherited a very specific quality from her parents.
"I got balls!" she declared while addressing the audience.

The discussion was part of a larger promotion for Minnelli's new memoir, Kids, Wait Till You Hear This! in which the EGOT winner reflects back on her life and career, including her struggles with anxiety and substance use disorder.
