The Atlanta mom says the unexpected moment made her feel deeply appreciated during her pregnancy
The viral video inspired the family to release multiple versions of the song, now available on streaming platforms
When Sakinah Bennett-Richard heard something coming from her bathroom, she just assumed it was the normal sounds of bath time.
The 26-year-old Atlanta-based mom was sitting on her couch while her husband, Munir Richard, 32, gave their 3-year-old son, Sol, a bath. But as she was relaxing, she heard something coming from behind the door that got her attention.
"Mommy is the best!" Sol can be heard in a video shared to Bennett-Richard's TikTok. "Mommy is the beeeeest."

She captured Sol and her husband Munir singing together, chanting "Mommy is the best" over and over.
"I was on the couch. I'm currently pregnant, so my husband does the heavy lifting with the toddler," Bennett-Richard says of her son Sol. "A.ka., bath time. If you have a 3-year-old, you know how it is."
"And honestly, music with them is pretty normal. They have a song for everything. Taking medicine, eating food, my husband can come up with a jingle for anything," she continues. "So I wasn't paying attention until I kept hearing 'Mommy.'"
"And I started to listen a little harder, and my jaw drops! 'Mommy is the best!' Like those are the words all moms pray to hear! That you know all the love, tasks, invisible labor is appreciated."
Bennett-Richard says hearing the two people she loves most singing that song meant everything to her.
"Being a mommy sometimes can feel like you're not always seen, so to hear my husband and son singing a song like that honestly made me feel so valued and appreciated," she explains. "Especially because I was just lying on the couch scrolling the Internet. It was so unexpected."

"Honestly, shock is probably the best word. And then super emotional," continues Bennett-Richard. "They mean so much to me, and I'm sure being pregnant doesn't help with the overflowing emotions."
The proud mom says coming up with songs is typical for her husband, who is a musician.
"My husband Munir is a musician, and so he is always singing and creating music with our son," explains Bennett-Richard. "He plays percussion/drums for several notable artists. He's always listening to music, creating music, recording music."
"Along with the fact that he is always trying to figure out a way to honor me, even if it's in the smallest ways," she continues. "Our son follows his every move. Anything Dad does, he's on board. They're best friends!"
Seeing the video go viral was "very wild" for Bennett-Richard, who has been posting content for years.
"I just started sharing my family more recently and to see how many families — and moms especially — were touched by the song," she says. "It made my heart so happy that we could put smiles on that many people's faces!"
"We had companies like Samsung Gaming and the Hallmark Channel comment, and just to see how far our little moment had spread was incredible! It's one of those things you never expect to go viral, and then you wake up overnight to millions of views!"
After seeing how much people loved the song, Bennett-Richard and her husband decided to make a few different types of recordings. They are all available onstreaming platforms now.
"We actually recorded an entire project after seeing how much people enjoyed the song!" she says. "So now there are 'Daddy Is the Best,' 'I Am the Best,' [and] 'Family is the Best,' versions as well! Something for everyone to feel celebrated."
