James Cameron is paying tribute to his long-time producing partner Jon Landau in his latest film Avatar: Fire and Ash.

The Oscar-winning director, 71, took some time to honor Landau, who died at the age of 63 from cancer in July 2024, during his speech before the screening of the third installment of the Avatar series.

"There's one person conspicuously absent on this stage tonight, and that is my producing partner of 33 years, Jon Landau, who passed away last year," Cameron shared at the Avatar: Fire & Ash World Premiere on Monday, Dec. 1.

"John fought so hard to stay with us and to stay part of the film," he continued. "And his spirit infuses all the Avatar films and we all, when he passed — it was a blow. It was a shock. And it was not lost on us that we were making a film about how humans process their loss and their grief."

He went on to say that he believed Landau's death spurred the cast and the crew in the latest Avatar movie to step up and elevate the film so that it would be something that would have made him proud. The end credits of the film also feature a tribute to Landau.

"His spirit not only infused all the films, but I believe it sort of caused us to step up and rise to a higher level to make a film that he would've been proud of. And so that's what we did. And now we present that film," Cameron said concluding his speech.

Cameron, who worked alongside Landau in producing three of the highest-grossing movies of all time — Titanic, Avatar, and Avatar: The Way of Water — was also one of the first people to pay tribute to his long-time collaborator after his death.

He told PEOPLE in a statement at the time that the Oscar-winning producer's "zany humor, personal magnetism, great generosity of spirit and fierce will have held the center of our Avatar universe for almost two decades."

"His legacy is not just the films he produced, but the personal example he set — indomitable, caring, inclusive, tireless, insightful and utterly unique," he continued. "He produced great films, not by wielding power but by spreading warmth and the joy of making cinema. He inspired us all to be and to bring our best, every day."

"I have lost a dear friend, and my closest collaborator of 31 years," Cameron added of Landau, who also served as chief operating officer for his production company, Lightstorm Entertainment, per Variety. "A part of myself has been torn away."

The pair's bond was not only on display on-screen, but behind it as well. In a 2022 interview about Avatar: The Way of Water, Landau told The Hollywood Reporter that he had "seen an evolution of" Cameron since their careers first intertwined.

The director chimed in mid-chat to say, "Did he tell you we're like an old married couple?" He then added of their partnership, "I don't want to say nice things in front of him — it'll go to his head — but I feel like there's no problem we can't solve."

Avatar: Fire and Ash hits theaters on Dec. 19.

Who's afraid of a little old Eras Tour movie?

Taylor Swift isn't. The pop superstar dropped a new trailer Dec. 1 for her second concert film coming to Disney+: "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour | The Final Show," offering fans an evocative glimpse at the last city of the most lucrative tour in music history.

"I want to thank every single one of you for being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date," Swift says in the trailer, delivering the line from the stage at her Dec. 8, 2024, Vancouver finale. The film captures the entire "Tortured Poets Department" set — the 2024 studio album Swift deftly wove into the tour following its commercial release — along with a brand-new acoustic collection pulled from her three Vancouver mashups.

The run time has not been released.

Swift is dropping the film on Dec. 12 for a reason: It's a nod to her 12th era, "The Life of a Showgirl," inspired by the nocturnal world she fell into after each stadium ended its roar.

Fans suspected the Vancouver shows were being immortalized the moment they walked into BC Place Stadium. They spotted flyover cameras, a massive jib and signs warning about drones. TikTok user @christiancubacub documented and explained the production setup at the Canada stop.

"There are a lot of wide shots in the trailer and I hope that translates in the film, because there was a lot of criticism for the first Eras Tour film," he said. "The shots were very zoomed in on Taylor, and we couldn't admire the visuals."

He added sections of the floor were blocked for production crews in other videos and one VIP area morphed into a command center marked by a Travis Kelce jersey hanging over gear. Boom microphones dotted the stadium to capture audience reactions.

New Vancouver acoustic collection

Swift mentions in the trailer that there is a new acoustic collection. Here are the three nights of guitar and piano mashups from Vancouver:

Dec. 6, 2024: "Haunted"/"Wonderland" and "Never Grow Up"/"The Best Day"

Dec. 7, 2024: "I Love You, I'm Sorry"/"Last Kiss" ft. Gracie Abrams and "The Tortured Poets Department"/"Maroon"

Dec. 8, 2024: "A Place in This World"/"New Romantics" and "Long Live"/"New Year's Day"/"The Manuscript"

Complete Eras Tour surprise song sets: Taylor Swift adds custom songs, mashups to every Eras Tour setlist. See all the songs.

The concert film joins six episode docuseries

But the film is only half the Dec. 12 celebration. Swift's six-part docuseries promises unprecedented candor and context, pulling fans into the planning, choreography and emotional stakes of the 3-hour juggernaut that grossed more than $2 billion and united more than 10 million fans across five continents.

Swift explains in a separate trailer for the docuseries: "I came up with the idea for the Eras Tour about two years before the tour started. I wanted to over-serve the fans in terms of the amount of songs they were going to hear and how far I was going to push myself."

The series includes interviews with Swift, her mom, Andrea, and fiancé. It traces everything from early rehearsals to the backstage sprint where she shimmies out of her "Tortured Poets" cape dress and races to don her nightly "Midnights" corset. It also highlights the relationship between the singer and the football tight end.

"He brings a lot of happiness," Andrea says. In one scene, Swift and Kelce banter on speakerphone: "You've got teammates, I've got teammates," he tells her. "You've got Coach Reed, I've got my mom," she responds, laughing.

1 / 7Taylor Swift's most notable lyrics about Travis Kelce on 'The Life of a Showgirl'

In "The Life of a Showgirl," Taylor Swift shows she's a woman in love and "proudly flaunts the physical and emotional attributes of her man," USA TODAY critic Melissa Ruggieri writes. Here are some of the lyrics on the album that nod to Travis Kelce.

Taylor Swift drops 'End of an Era' docuseries with backstage secrets, Travis Kelce

The docuseries underscores how the tour created a communal force field.

"This show created a bonding experience for like 70,000 people all at once," Swift says. Backup dancer Whyley Yoshimura adds, "I have never seen the boss with this much passion about their job."

The footage even returns to Vancouver for the ambitious acoustic finale, where Swift walks Andrea through the dizzying mashup on Dec. 8: "So it goes 'New Year's Day' verse and chorus, 'Manuscript' bridge into 'Long Live' bridge into the down verse of 'Long Live,' into 'Hold on to the memories they will hold on to you,' into 'Long Live' chorus but slowed down to halftime, 'New Year's Day' chords underneath it, into the last verse of 'The Manuscript,'" she explains.

Andrea's response: "That's complicated."

Second Eras Tour movie to Disney+

Swift has done this before.

Her first Eras Tour film captured a different version of the show before she reimagined the set list in Paris to add "Tortured Poets" and merge "Folklore" and "Evermore." The Disney+ cut clocked in at 3 hours, 30 minutes and 23 seconds and included six acoustic songs filmed in Los Angeles.

"When I dreamed up the idea of the Eras Tour," she told fans then, "I thought it would be really fun to sort of go back through all these different phases I've had musically."

Sabrina Carpenter slammed Donald Trump's White House for using her hit song "Juno" in a video montage depicting ICE raids. The Grammy winner responded to the video on X with the following takedown: "This video is evil and disgusting. Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda."

The White House has made a habit out of using pop songs from anti-Trump singers in videos praising Trump or celebrating ICE on social media. The latest video takes the most viral lyric from Carpenter's "Juno" (when the singer asks about sex positions: "Have you ever tried this one?") and layers it over people being handcuffed, tackled and more by ICE agents.

Prior to the White House co-opting Carpenter's music for its ICE agenda, it did the same with her friend and collaborator Taylor Swift. A video that dropped in November used Swift's "The Fate of Ophelia" in a montage celebrating Trump despite the U.S. president's frequent social media posts bashing Swift. The pop star did not comment on the video.

Kenny Loggins made headlines in October for bashing the White House's use of his hit song "Danger Zone" in a video that depicted Trump flying over No Kings protestors and dropping poop all over them.

"This is an unauthorized use of my performance of 'Danger Zone.' Nobody asked me for my permission, which I would have denied, and I request that my recording on this video is removed immediately," Loggins said in a statement shared with Variety at the time. "I can't imagine why anybody would want their music used or associated with something created with the sole purpose of dividing us. Too many people are trying to tear us apart, and we need to find new ways to come together."

British pop singer Jess Glynne was more blunt over the summer when the White House used the "Hold My Hand" Jet2holidays viral meme to promote ICE raids. She posted on social media: "This post honestly makes me sick. My music is about love, unity, and spreading positivity — never about division or hate."

Check out Carpenter's post below.

In the midst of promoting the first Eras Tour film, which was released in October 2023, and completing the tour's international trek, Swift released her highly anticipated follow-up to 2022's *Midnights*. *The Tortured Poets Department *added 31 new songs to the Swift oeuvre after she expanded the initial 16-track release with a double album subtitled "The Anthology."

The first Eras Tour film was released months before *Poets*, meaning the full set Swift eventually added to the tour, featuring fan faves like "But Daddy I Love Him" and "Fortnight," couldn't be seen by fans unable to get tickets to a nearby show.

*The Final Show *changes that.

"We've had so long to prepare for the end of this tour, and we get to play one last show for you here tonight," Swift can be heard telling the crowd in voiceover during the trailer, which previews live performances of *Poets *tracks "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" and "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?"**
