Cosby and Robert Sr., who are not biologically related, share one child

Mary M. Cosby has been candid about her unique relationship with husband, Robert Cosby Sr., who was her grandmother's second husband.

The couple wed on Sept. 28, 1998, in Chicago, a year after her grandmother died. During the first season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, she revealed their marriage was "arranged" as "it was kind of in my grandma's will for us to marry."

Following their nuptials, Mary became the first lady of the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church, a title passed down to her from her grandmother. Their church has long been the subject of cult and financial misconduct allegations, which are detailed in the TLC docuseries The Cult of The Real Housewife.

Robert Sr. hasn't commented on the allegations, but Mary denied them in a January 2021 interview with Entertainment Tonight. "Clearly I'm not gonna get on national television, be a Housewife and be in a cult," she said. "Like, come on. I believe in my church. There's no cult. My church members, they know those are false allegations. Those are ridiculous. It's the people that are looking for fault."

A few years after their wedding, Mary and Robert Sr. welcomed their son, Robert Cosby Jr., in 2005. During his appearance on the show's season 1 reunion, the bishop praised Mary as a "great" mother and wife.

"I love her," Robert Sr. told Andy Cohen and the Salt Lake City cast in the February 2021 episode. "I understand we've had our ups and downs. Hey, you've been married 22 years, how in the world can you not get along?"

So who is Mary Cosby's husband? Here's everything to know about Robert Cosby Sr. and his relationship with the reality TV star.

He's a bishop of the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church

Bravo

Based out of Salt Lake City, Mary and Robert Sr. are active leaders of the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church. Founded by her grandmother, the late Dr. Rosemary Redmon Cosby, Robert Sr. serves as a bishop alongside Mary as first lady.

Robert Sr. joined Mary during the season 1 RHOSLC reunion and sang praise to his wife for being "more than a first lady" at their church, citing her as a "co-pastor" and his "equal." His sentiments moved Mary to tears, with her admitting that she felt "touched" by him calling her "his equal."

He was originally married to Mary's grandmother

Robert Sr. was previously Mary's step-grandfather and, therefore, not biological kin, she clarified during confessional moments on the show.

Mary's grandmother was steadfast in her granddaughter marrying her husband after she died, partly because she wanted Mary to step into her shoes.

"Before she passed, she made it very clear that she wanted me to be the one to take her place in the church and inherit everything," the RHOSLC star explained. "That came with homes, money, our church and also marrying her husband."

Mary has been candid about the unconventional way she met her husband, saying in a November 2020 episode of RHOSLC, "Don't think it wasn't weird, because it was!"

Mary and Robert Sr. got married in Chicago

The couple wed on Sept. 28, 1998, at the Ritz-Carlton in Chicago. After being together for decades, Mary told PEOPLE in September 2024 that she values her "friendship" with Robert Sr. that often comes first, "before our relationship, before our marriage."

"I love that Robert is a hard worker," she said. "He's not lazy. He's a bishop and he lives to that. I love that he respects me, I respect him. He finds pleasure in buying me gifts, and he buys me the most beautiful things."

They share one son together

Mary and Robert Sr. welcomed their son, Robert Jr., in 2005. While Robert Sr. mostly steers clear of the RHOSLC cameras, Robert Jr. has been featured on the show alongside his mother on numerous occasions, including when he admitted he'd been secretly married for a year during season 4.

"They both live in my house," Mary admitted in a confessional interview about her son and his wife. "But I don't see them much. And one day like, they were getting dressed. He was rushing to go do something and he was dressed up nice and she was dressed up nice."

She continued, "But they were running full-blown — running like with all their might, but I didn't know they were going to go get married."

In a vulnerable moment in season 5, Robert Jr. also opened up to Mary about his struggle with drug addiction and suicidal ideation.

They have several homes across the U.S.

After Mary's grandmother passed, she left her with five homes across the U.S., though she and Robert Sr. primarily reside in their Salt Lake City home. Her extravagant house has been featured on RHOSLC over the years, defined by her Tiffany blue kitchen and colorful furniture pieces.

"When my grandmother left, she left me her empire: homes, churches, daycares, a mortgage company, restaurants," Mary revealed during season 1. "Including her husband. So Robert Sr. does love checking on all of the homes that we own."

He doesn't want to appear on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City

Before Mary joined the cast of the Real Housewives series, Robert Sr. was "hesitant" about her appearing on the show.

At the season 1 reunion, he admitted he doesn't "like people messing with my wife at all" and was upset that her costars thought "we got married just for the money."

Mary later famously opted out of attending the season 2 RHOSLC reunion following speculation about her religion by her castmates, she took a hiatus before returning to the show as a "friend" in season 4 and a full-time housewife in season 5.

Though she's since made amends with the ladies, her husband hasn't been keen on being on TV again.

During an October 2024 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Mary admitted Robert Sr. was holding a "grudge" against RHOSLC but could very well "show his face" in the future.

The Salt Lake City housewife clarified that her husband wasn't upset with Cohen and that he "loves" the executive producer but doesn't "trust" the rest of production.

"He's good. He's a man, and they hold grudges," she explained. "But once he gets over his grudge-holding, he'll be better."

Despite her husband's absence on RHOSLC, Mary told PEOPLE in September 2024 that she was "happy to be back" and had "no regrets" not reuniting with the women during the show's second season reunion.

"Filming was like a whirlwind all over again, but it was a great experience because I formed real friendships this time around," she added.

He was accused of pressuring congregants for large donations

In TLC's docuseries The Cult of The Real Housewife, multiple ex-congregants of the Faith Temple Pentecostal Church accused Mary and Robert Sr. of financial misconduct. Rosalind Enoch told filmmakers that the couple created something called "heave offerings," held every six months.

"It started to increase over time," she said. "We could've just had a heave offering meeting and then in another week or two we're having another meeting where we're being told there's an emergency and they need $100,000 and they need it by Thursday."

Enoch added, "The worst announcement you could hear when you walked into that church is, 'Tell everybody don't leave. We need to have an emergency saints meeting.' You knew it was going to be about money."

She also claimed that Robert Sr. would "instruct ushers to stand at the doors" during these meetings at the church, essentially barricading people inside.

"During this meeting, everyone put their name and their amount on the list," Enoch said. "If you didn't have a certain amount, Robert would say, 'That's all you have?' I mean, there's nothing spiritual about that, right?"

Neither Mary nor Robert Sr. has commented on the specific claims made in the docuseries. However, the reality TV star called the project "sad and a shame" in November 2025.

"It's horrible, that's what I think," she said at BravoCon 2025. "And it's not true."

SYDNEY (AP) — Veteran Australia batter Usman Khawaja has announced he will retire from international cricket after the fifth Ashes test beginning Sunday at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

It will be the 39-year-old Khawaja's 88th and final test — played at the ground where he began his first-class career.

Khawaja informed his teammates on Friday morning that he would be retiring 15 years after making his test debut in 2011.

Australia coach Andrew McDonald earlier this week guaranteed Khawaja's spot in the side for the SCG test but would not guarantee the left-hander's future beyond that.

Australia, with a 3-1 lead going into the fifth test, has retained the Ashes.

Khawaja moved to Sydney from Pakistan as a child and scored his first Ashes century at the SCG with 171 against England in 2018.

It was also at that the SCG where he revived his career at age 35, scoring twin centuries against England when Travis Head missed a test in 2022 through COVID. That prompted one of the great late-career revivals, as Khawaja hit seven centuries in his next two years back in the side.

Khawaja's position had come under scrutiny this season after being unable to open in the first Ashes test in Perth due to back spasms and then missing the Brisbane test with the injury.

He was then initially left out in Adelaide until Steve Smith's vertigo allowed him to return, before an 82 in the first innings there ensured he would stay in the side for the fourth test in Melbourne.

Khawaja has scored 6,206 runs at an average of 43.49 in his 87 tests with 16 centuries and 28 half-centuries.

His landlord is also requesting to terminate Rourke's rental agreement on the property, which the actor started leasing in March 2025, per documents obtained by PEOPLE

Mickey Rourke allegedly owes his landlord nearly $60,000 in past-due rent on his L.A. home, according to a complaint filed on Dec. 29 and obtained by PEOPLE.

The 73-year-old actor and former boxer, whose real name is Philip Andre Rourke Jr., was served a notice on Dec. 18 to pay the $59,100 he allegedly owes his landlord, Eric Goldie, in back rent or vacate the property within three days, according to the filing.

The notice, which Rourke allegedly "failed to comply with the requirements of," per the complaint, was posted on the premises and mailed to him as he was not home at the time to receive it, the documents claim.

Per the filing, Rourke started leasing the property in March 2025 with the monthly rent initially starting at $5,200. The rent was later increased to $7,000 a month.

Goldie is requesting the $59,100 Rourke allegedly owes in past-due rent as well as compensation for attorney fees, the documents state. He is also asking for the "forfeiture" of their rental agreement.

PEOPLE reached out to a representative for Rourke, as well as Goldie's attorney, but did not immediately receive a response.

According to the property's listing on Zillow, the nearly 1,600-square-foot home includes three bedrooms and two full bathrooms.

The 1926 build is described as a "nicely upgraded Spanish bungalow" with an open floor plan and access to a "grassy" backyard.

At the time, Rourke's manager, Kimberly Hines, addressed his early departure from the show in a statement shared with PEOPLE, and claimed the series had disrespected the star by "publicly embarrassing him" and refusing to pay him his dues.

"There's no question that when Big Brother booked Mickey Rourke, they were fully aware of both his public persona and how it aligned with his Hollywood rebel image," Hines wrote at the time, adding that the show knew his presence would be "explosive, controversial and attention-grabbing — and that's exactly what they got, and more."

NEW YORK (AP) — Dylan Guenther had his first career hat trick and added an assist and the Utah Mammoth topped the New York Islanders 7-2 on Thursday.

Nick Schmaltz scored twice and added an assist, Clayton Keller and Mikhail Sergachev each had a goal and two assists, while Lawson Crouse and Barrett Hayton each had two assists. Karel Vejmelka returned from a two-game absence and finished with 20 saves as the Mammoth snapped a two-game skid.

Cal Ritchie and Matthew Schaefer scored for New York, and Max Shabanov had two assists. David Rittich made nine saves on 14 shots, but was replaced by Marcus Hogberg 5:41 into the third period.

Guenther scored his second goal of the game when he buried a backhand feed from Crouse to give Utah a 2-1 lead midway through the second period. He also opened the scoring just 36 seconds into the middle period.

The Islanders briefly tied it 1-1 early in the second period when Ritchie fired a wrist shot over the glove of Vejmelka.

Schmaltz beat Rittich with less than four minutes remaining in the second period to extend Utah's lead to two goals.

Mammoth forward Alex Kerfoot took a four-minute high-sticking penalty late in the second, but the Islanders didn't capitalize on the ensuing power play.

Sergachev and Keller scored in the first six minutes of the third period to stretch Utah's lead to 5-1 and prompt the Islanders to change goaltenders.

Guenther completed the hat trick and scored his 20th goal of the season by sliding the puck between the legs of Hogberg with less than seven minutes remaining.

Schaefer scored a power-play goal midway through the third period for his 10th of the season.

Gabrielle Carteris poses in shorts alongside her 'Beverly Hills, 90210' costars

Beverly Hills, 90210 actress Gabrielle Carteris always managed to wear more clothing than the other women on the show, and now we know why.

The reason that her Andrea Zuckerman was never in a bikini or even a one-piece swimsuit is simply because Carteris "didn't want to be seen that way," she revealed on a recent episode of former costar Jennie Garth's I Choose Me podcast.

"[Executive producer] Aaron Spelling, I remember before we started the summer episodes, [saying,] 'All right, ladies, we're going to be wearing bathing suits in the summer, so you might want to know that.' I was like, 'What does that mean?' I refused to wear a bathing suit. I don't know if you ever saw, I never wore a bathing suit."

Get your daily dose of entertainment news, celebrity updates, and what to watch with our EW Dispatch newsletter.

Garth, who played Kelly Taylor, recalled that Carteris had often been clad in "hot little shorts" for scenes at the beach.

"I wore shorts or I had my leotard and my shorts," Carteris noted. "I wore my overalls and my tank top, but I refused to wear [a swimsuit], because it infuriated me. I mean, I had a cute little body at the time, I think, but it enraged me that that was the conversation."

At the time of filming, Carteris was more than a decade older than her female costars, who included Garth, Tori Spelling, and the late Shannen Doherty. They were still teens, like they played on the drama about twins from Minneapolis and their mostly wealthier friends coping with life in the glamorous city.

Garth asked if the reason for her decision had been that she "didn't want to be objectified."

It was.

"Yes. I didn't like that," Carteris said, explaining that she didn't audition for roles that required wearing itty-bitty outfits.

"I did a lot of commercials before I did 90210. I was very fortunate to have a very good commercial life," she said. "[Back] when commercials, you know, you could do something. I never would go on an audition with a bathing suit."

She didn't seem to think it had affected her time on the series, which aired from 1990 to 2000. While the series ran on Fox for 10 seasons, all of which Garth was a part of, Carteris left the show full-time in the sixth.

"I just didn't want to objectify myself. So I never did," Carteris shared. "They never challenged me on it at 90210. I'm sure it made it so certain things they chose for me not to do in the show, because I just wouldn't do that. I don't want to be seen that way."

Garth replied, "I love that."

Carteris explained on the July 25 episode of the 9021OMG podcast hosted by Garth and Tori Spelling that her departure from the show was for multiple reasons. It began, she believed, when her character welcomed a baby, which aligned with her entering motherhood in real life."They didn't know how to write for me after that, and it was just a matter of time. I was wanting something more, I think, and they just — it wasn't going to happen," Carteris said. "So I moved on."

Chevy Chase on 'Community' in 2009

Chevy Chase says he's not to blame for his controversial departure from the NBC sitcom Community.

The debate over the events that led to Chase's 2012 exit has been reignited ahead of the release of I'm Chevy Chase and You're Not, a new CNN documentary about the actor that premieres Thursday night. In it, Community director Jay Chandrasekhar confirms reports at the time that Chase used the N-word on set and went into a "full meltdown," with his costar Yvette Nicole Brown distancing herself from the ordeal. But Chase sees things differently.

"It wasn't a bad experience. I just didn't think it was that good, the show," Chase told The New York Times in a joint interview with the documentary's director, Marina Zenovich, published Thursday.

When interviewer Nicole Sperling pushed back on Chase's reaction, reminding him that he had spoken positively about the sitcom during his time on it, he dismissed her remark, saying simply, "Oh, shut up."

However, after several more prods, he offered the fullest version of his side of the story in years.

Danny Pudi, Chevy Chase, Gillian Jacobs, Joel McHale, and Donald Glover on 'Community'

When asked why his daughter, Caley Chase, claimed in the documentary that the comedian "loved" the writing on Community, he replied, "My daughter can go to hell." After he was asked how he felt when his turn on the show wrapped, he quipped, "I thought it ended great." Then the SNL vet set aside the snark and got a bit more candid.

"It was too great a misunderstanding of what I was saying and not saying," he said. "I thought that there was at least one person — and another who, for some ungodly reason, didn't get me, didn't know who I was, or didn't realize for one second I'm not racist. They were too young to be aware of my work. Instead, there was some sort of visceral reaction from them."

According to a new account Chandrasekhar relays in I'm Chevy Chase and You're Not, Chase's alleged tirade began with a "blackface hand puppet" storyline written for his character, the ignorant and abrasive Pierce Hawthorne.

Chandrasekhar claims that Chase "said something" to Brown, whom he already had a "history" with regarding race. "She got up and stormed out of there," the director says in the doc. "Chevy storms off, so the producer is like, 'We need Yvette in the scene, right?' I'm like, 'Yeah, she's in the next scene.' And he goes, 'Well, she won't come out unless Chevy apologizes to her.'"

According to Chandrasekhar, Chase then told him that he "didn't say anything" to Brown and proceeded to explain that he "used to call Richard Pryor the N-word, and he used to call me the Honky, and we loved each other." The director adds that after the press reported the alleged incident, Chase returned to set complaining, "My career is ruined! I'm ruined!" and never came back.

The comedian's latest response echoes his past comments disparaging Community and his refusing to apologize over former costars and collaborators' negative accounts of working with him.

Skiing is as associated with royals as polo and horse racing

Prince William and Kate Middleton are keeping up a tradition of taking their children skiing, immersing them in the sport from an early age

With Christmas in the rear-view mirror, the thoughts of the royals traditionally turn to their favorite winter sport: skiing.

Throughout their childhood, Prince William and Prince Harry would be taken by their father, King Charles, to their favorite resort in the Swiss Alps, Klosters, for several days of sport.

It was a tradition that the then-Prince Charles and Princess Diana encouraged their sons from an early age. Charles had been introduced to Klosters by his friend Patty Palmer-Tomkinson, and he became so enamored with the resort that he would take himself off into the mountains to capture it with his watercolors. (Indeed, Charles first visited with his then-girlfriend Lady Sarah Spencer, the older sister of his eventual bride, Diana.)

Princess Diana, meanwhile, was an ace skier, as she worked as a maid in the Alps when she was a teen. She "was incredibly good at it," her former bodyguard Ken Wharfe has said of her prowess on the slopes.

Their sons continued skiing into their adult lives, and William and Kate Middleton have taken their children to the Alps a number of times, including in spring 2025, a vacation that made headlines when the couple successfully took legal action against French magazine Paris Match over the use of photographs of the family during their break.

In 2016, the couple did release an image of themselves with a young Prince George, now 12, and Princess Charlotte, now 10, on what was thought to be their first ski vacation as a foursome.

In the days of Charles' marriage to Diana and in the years afterward, there was an agreement with most of the press that a photocall would take place in exchange for them being left alone for the rest of their vacation, and it would become a regular stop-off for the traveling royal reporters.

In January 1995, the photographers had a bonus: William and Harry posed for a picture with their cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who were in the resort with their parents, the former Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

It wasn't long before both Prince William and Prince Harry were impressing with their grasp of the sport — or certainly their daring.

Harry "just wanted to go fast, so he skied solo down a mountain and ended up in some mud and flowers," Wharfe has described some of the younger prince's adventures. "We had to go and dig him out!"

As night fell over the resort in the years, the princes relaxed in one of the few bars, their protection officers keeping an eye from a few yards away. One such night in March 2005, Kate joined William and his group of friends as they were all in the resort celebrating what was dubbed as Charles' bachelor vacation ahead of his marriage the following month to Camilla.

Being away in the mountains hasn't always been associated with happy times. In March 1988, when Diana was on holiday with Charles and a pregnant Sarah, she learned that Charles had been involved in a skiing accident.

An avalanche had caught some of Charles' party as they skied off piste, and his friend Major Hugh Lindsay, a former equerry to Queen Elizabeth, was tragically killed. Palmer-Tomkinson was seriously injured and was reportedly only saved by the swift actions of guide Bruno Sprecher.
