When drama's at the door, invite it in so you can curl up on your couch and watch it unfold. The characters in the series on this list are questionable friends, neighbors, and community members, but we live vicariously through their bad decision-making. We applaud their road rage incidents that escalate to unpredictable levels. We support them in their affairs gone wrong, and cheer for them to succeed in their illegal drug ventures and contracted murders.

These antiheroes might not make great role models, but their stories sure make for excellent entertainment. Read on for the 25 best drama series on Netflix.

Adolescence (2025)

Courtesy of Ben Blackall/Netflix

Owen Cooper as Jamie Miller and Erin Doherty as Briony Ariston in 'Adolescence'

One of the most talked-about pieces of television to emerge in 2025 is Adolescence. A British crime drama about a 13-year-old boy named Jamie Miller who is accused of murdering his classmate, the miniseries offers four episodes, all of which were shot in one continuous take apiece. The technical execution of the project is thrilling, and so is the show's depiction of how modern media affects the minds and actions of teenage boys.

Young actor Owen Cooper makes a brilliant Emmy-winning debut as Jamie, and the scenes between him and his therapist (Erin Doherty) in episode 3 are some of the most affecting examples of storytelling in recent history. A series that feels especially relevant, Adolescence gets deep about what teenage boyhood looks like today. —Ilana Gordon

Beef (2023–present)

Andrew Cooper/Netflix Ali Wong as Amy Lau and Steven Yeun as Danny Cho in 'Beef'

This Emmy winner could be categorized in multiple ways — drama, comedy, miniseries — but we would classify it as one the best Netflix shows yet. After working-class contractor Danny (Steven Yeun) nearly plows his vehicle into affluent business owner Amy's (Ali Wong) SUV, their road rage incident soon escalates into a full-on feud. Their antics include sabotage, catfishing, and even kidnapping, all while viewers slowly see how this animosity stems from unresolved issues in the characters' lives.

As EW's critic writes, "Beef is not afraid to plumb some very disagreeable depths to tell the story of two damaged people fighting their way back to the light." A second season is in the works, following different characters who we can only hope have a beef as delicious as the first. —Kevin Jacobsen

Bridgerton (2020–present)

Liam Daniel/Netflix

Regé-Jean Page as Simon Basset and Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne Bridgerton on 'Bridgerton'

This ravishing historical drama became a sensation upon its release in 2020. Based on the beloved book series by Julia Quinn, Bridgerton takes the refined elegance of Regency-era London and combines it with a contemporary flair for sex and passion (or what's known to romance novel lovers as "bodice rippers").

The series, narrated by the legendary Julie Andrews, revolves around the noble Bridgerton family, focusing primarily on a new sibling each season as they experience the highs and lows of love within the strict rules of their society. EW's critic calls the series "a wonderful diversion for those who love Pride & Prejudice but wish it had more stairway sex." Catch up before season 4 drops on Jan. 29! —K.J.

The Crown (2016–2023)

Des Willie/Netflix Emma Corrin as Princess Diana and Josh O'Connor as Prince Charles on 'The Crown'

What screams drama more than the British royal family? Going back to the beginning of her reign, The Crown tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II from her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947 until the events of the early 21st century, changing casts every two seasons as the characters age.

But the show doesn't just cover Queen Elizabeth II — it also follows Princess Diana, Prince Charles, and more monarchs. The real royal family has taken umbrage with some of the portrayals in the show, and the writers certainly had creative liberties, but that's what makes it the drama it is. —Sarah Perchikoff

Five years after The Americans ended, Keri Russell sheds her Russian spy gear and lands a new job as career diplomat Kate Wyler, the newly appointed and ill-prepared U.S. ambassador to the U.K., who is dropped squarely into an international crisis.

Work is made more stressful thanks to the contributions of her husband, Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell), a former diplomat to Lebanon whose current unemployment leaves him a lot of time to mess up Kate's job. GLOW (2017–2019)

Beth Dubber/Netflix Kia Stevens as Tammé Dawson and Betty Gilpin as Debbie Eagan on 'GLOW'

We still haven't forgiven Netflix for canceling this dramedy too soon, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy the three seasons of excellence left in its wake. Based loosely on the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling TV series from the '80s, GLOW centers on a group of young women assembled for the wrestling promotion as they form their colorful personas and find a sense of purpose.

At the heart of the show is the tumultuous relationship between frenemies Ruth (Alison Brie) and Debbie (Betty Gilpin), as they try (and sometimes fail) to set aside their differences for the benefit of the show. "Part sports drama, part showbiz satire, part birth-of-the-modern-woman allegory," EW's critic calls GLOW "all heartbreaking glitter-blasted humanity." —K.J.

Midnight Mass (2021)

Eike Schroter/Netflix

Annabeth Gish as Dr. Sarah Gunning, Alex Essoe as Mildred Gunning, and Kate Siegel as Erin Greene in 'Midnight Mass'

Riley Flynn (Zach Gilford) returns to his highly religious hometown on Crockett Island just as a new charismatic priest, Father Paul Hill (Hamish Linklater), has taken over the church. Since they both arrived, strange things are happening on the island and the new priest is anything but what he seems.

Midnight Mass comes from a master of the horror genre, Mike Flanagan, and it's one of his best. But Flanagan is also great at providing drama along with his jump scares. What starts as the ominous return of Riley — who went to prison for killing a woman while drunk driving — turns into a supernatural nightmare that even the biggest horror buff couldn't have seen coming. —S.P.

For one of the best dramedies of the decade so far, look no further than Mo. Stand-up comic Mo Amer stars as the titular character, Mo Najjar, a Palestinian refugee born in Kuwait and living in Houston as he and his family seek asylum and citizenship.

Released more than a year before the war in Gaza became front page news, Mo received critical acclaim for its portrayal of Palestinian culture and the refugee experience. Amer co-created the series with fellow comic Ramy Youssef, and for a while, the biggest critique one could offer was that there was too long of a delay between the two seasons. Kate Middleton admitted to being "notoriously bad" at keeping track of a personal item

The habit inspired the Christmas gifts that Princess Kate got one year

Podcast host Giovanna Fletcher, who interviewed the royal in 2020, made the revelation in a new profile on the Princess of Wales

Kate Middleton's loved ones knew exactly what to get her for Christmas.

In a new profile on the Princess of Wales, The Times revealed that the 43-year-old mom of three has a habit of losing her phone.

Giovanna Fletcher, who interviewed the royal in 2020 for her podcast Happy Mum, Happy Baby, told the outlet that Kate "told me that she was notoriously bad at keeping an eye on her phone. She always loses her phone."

"All of her Christmas presents that year were related to her keeping track of her phone…It was all about her not losing her phone," Fletcher added.

However, it's unlikely that Princess Kate frets much over her missing phone. Earlier this year, she penned an essay saying that phones are a "distraction, fragmenting our focus" and fueling an "epidemic of disconnection."

"While new technology has many benefits, we must also acknowledge that it plays a complex and often troubling role in this epidemic of disconnection," Kate said in The Power of Human Connection in a Distracted World, which she wrote with Professor Robert Waldinger from Harvard University.

Phones within the Prince and Princess of Wales' family have also been a topic of conversation this year, as Prince William recently revealed that none of their three children — Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7 — have their own phones yet.

"None of our children have any phones, which we're very strict about," William, 43, told Eugene Levy on the Apple TV+ series The Reluctant Traveler.

In another interview tied to his Earthshot Prize awards in Brazil, Prince William echoed the sentiment: "Our children don't have phones. I think when George moves on to secondary school, then maybe he might have a phone that has no internet access," William said, referring to his eldest son moving to a new school next year. "And to be honest, it's getting to the point where it's becoming a little bit of a, like, tense issue."

In The Times, Fletcher recalled "how nervous we both were" during her chat with Princess Kate, but there was an unexpected tip that helped them ease into things.

"Thankfully, Prince William came into the room, and he said, 'Just talk,' " Fletcher said.

Kensington Palace Kate Middleton and Giovanna Fletcher in 2020

It resulted in one of Princess Kate's most candid interviews ever, revealing details of her pregnancy, how she "really quite liked labor" and feelings of mom guilt when she has to leave her children to carry out royal duties.

In addition to parenting, the interview centered largely on Princess Kate's work focused on children. She launched the Centre for Early Childhood through the Royal Foundation in 2021, carrying out studies and programs to raise awareness about the vital development that occurs in children's first five years of life and how it affects their whole lives.

Christian Guy, the center's executive director, told The Times, "One of the key things to understand is that the earliest years — this period of profound human development and the way we build brains and set people up for their future — is a job for everybody. This is a societal cause. This is not just a job for parents and those caring for babies and young children. And she's very determined to help to inspire and inform everyone who can play their part."

Alix Earle and Tom Brady were spotted getting cozy on New Year's Eve in St. Barths, where many a celebrity flocked to as they prepared to ring in 2026.

The two were seen in videos dancing and chatting, with Earle at one point rubbing the former NFL quarterback's back.

Earle had just announced her split from Braxton Berrios earlier in December.

Less than one month after confirming her split from Braxton Berrios, Alix Earle rang in the new year with one Tom Brady at the celebrity-loved hotspot St. Barths.

In videos shared by TMZ and People, Earle and Brady can be seen dancing at a New Year's Eve party, and the Dancing With the Stars alum was also spotted leaning in and whispering to the former NFL quarterback, rubbing his back. Earle and Brady's December 31 hangout also comes the same month that Brady's ex-wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen, married jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente, with whom she shares a son born last February. Brady and Bündchen also share two children from their 13-year marriage—Benjamin, 16, and Vivian, 13.

Ahead of her New Year's Eve celebrations, Earle said in a TikTok video thar she was "foreseeing really good vibes for tonight," adding, "We've been staying on a boat with a bunch of friends, but we're going to a party tonight that's gonna be on land. Calvin Harris is playing."

"The place we're going is on the beach," she continued. "I think my dress is a little too formal for what we're doing, and I think other people are wearing flats or platforms and I have literally eight-inch heels." Earle posted her December 31 outfit—a sheer, plunging gown—on Instagram, writing alongside it, "2026 we have arrived."

Earle's sighting with Brady comes less than three weeks after she confirmed on December 13 that she and Berrios, a wide receiver for the Houston Texans, had broken up after two-and-a-half years. "Braxton and I are no longer together," she tearfully shared in a TikTok video. "We have been doing long distance since basically June and we haven't gotten to see each other that often. It's just been really difficult for me."

Earle was in Los Angeles filming Dancing With the Stars while Berrios was in season for his NFL career. "A part of me also really wants to be focusing on myself right now," Earle added. "I just feel like I can't be what Braxton needs. I want him to have someone with him 24/7 who can support him and be there for him."

"I love Braxton," the influencer continued. "He's my best friend. So it's been really difficult as we're trying to go forward with this. It just kinda feels like we're on two different paths right now, and it sucks. We're on good terms and I don't want anyone to come for him or to be mean to him."

Us Weekly reported that Earle and Berrios "mutually agreed on the split," with a source telling the outlet that their long distance relationship "was hard for them to navigate."

A source speaking to Page Six said that on New Year's Eve, Earle and Brady "were at a yacht party and met, and broke off from the larger group, talking for a lot of the night." Since his divorce in 2022, Brady, 48, has been linked to Irina Shayk and Kim Kardashian. Earle, who turned 25 on December 16, traveled to Mexico with friends shortly after announcing her breakup from Berrios before heading to St. Barths to ring in 2026.

- *28 Years Later: The Bone Temple *picks up after the events of *28 Years Later. *

- Ralph Fiennes, Alfie Williams, and Jack O'Connell reprise their roles from the previous film.

- *The Bone Temple *is slated to hit theaters on Jan. 16, 2026.

Didn't get enough of the bone temple in *28 Years Later*? Boy, do we have good news for you.

That spire of skulls will likely play heavily into the horror hit's sequel, *The Bone Temple*, directed by Nia DaCosta (*Hedda*) and written by *28 Years Later *scribe Alex Garland (*Civil War*). It was shot back-to-back with its predecessor and is the second film in a planned trilogy.

Ralph Fiennes, who returns as Dr. Ian Kelson, previously spoke with ** about how this next installment highlights the "human violence" that persists even as the U.K. fights for survival against the Rage Virus.

Here's everything we know about *28 Years Later: The Bone Temple*, including its release date, cast, and plot.

What is *28 Years Later: The Bone Temple *about?

*28 Years Later *ends with young Spike (Alfie Williams) leaving for the mainland alone. After fleeing from the infected, he runs into Jimmy (Jack O'Connell), a strange figure wearing a tracksuit, gold chains, and an upside-down gold cross. Jimmy isn't alone, either — he's backed by a similarly-dressed crew who prove themselves adept at slicing and dicing infected. Jimmy invites Spike to join them.

Jimmy, as you might imagine, will play a major role in *The Bone Temple*. In a chat with *Rolling Stone*, *28 Years Later* director Danny Boyle described the sequel as "essentially a debate about the nature of evil between [Kelson] and the head Jimmy."

The official synopsis reads: "Dr. Kelson finds himself in a shocking new relationship — with consequences that could change the world as they know it — and Spike's encounter with Jimmy Crystal becomes a nightmare he can't escape, In the world of *The Bone Temple*, the infected are no longer the greatest threat to survival — the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifying."**

'28 Years Later' ending explained: Who is Jimmy and why is he dressed like that?

Speaking with EW, Fiennes, who plays Dr. Kelson, noted the scene in which an infected gives birth in *28 Years Later* as foundational to what's to come. "I can say that the themes that we touched on in the scene on the train, the moment of labor, the humanity — it is a critical moment in the life of a mother and child," he said.

He continued, "The ultimate human moment is an infected woman who is giving birth to a baby who is not infected. The theme of innate humanity — is it still alive in the soul, in the heart, in the mind of an infected person? Are they completely corrupted? Are they only rabid? Or is there the possibility of something? Something human, it's still there."

And Fiennes also noted that the sequel will address "human violence" in a significant way. "We carry in us the potential for terrible destruction and pain," he said. "That theme is picked up very strongly in the next film."

Is there a trailer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple?

The first trailer for *The Bone Temple* highlights Dr. Kelson's titular structure, as well as his curiosity about the monstrous alpha, Samson (Chi Lewis-Parry).

Dr. Kelson isn't just spending time with Samson, though. The trailer sees Jimmy and his gang, a.k.a. "the Jimmies," visiting the Bone Temple. Could Spike be the one who leads them there? He's seen wearing a blonde wig in the trailer, hinting he's now part of the ruthless faction.

A follow-up trailer released in December 2025 offers a deeper look at Jimmy's meeting with Dr. Kelson, in which the young buck asks Fiennes' weary doctor if he's "Old Nick," a nickname for Satan.

"Old Nick released his demons unto the world of man," says Jimmy. "And the world of man fell before the demons."**

Elsewhere in the clip, we see Spike being recruited as a Jimmy, flashbacks to the early days of the Rage Virus, and Dr. Kelson declaring that he believes the infection can be treated.**

Who's in the *28 Years Later: The Bone Temple *cast?

Many players from *28 Years Later *will be reprising their roles in* The Bone Temple*, including Fiennes as Dr. Ian Kelson, Williams as Spike, O'Connell as Jimmy, and Lewis-Parry as Samson.

Also returning is Erin Kellyman (*The Falcon and the Winter Soldier*). She's seen multiple times in the trailer, wearing a blonde wig and stirring up violence with the Jimmies.

Is Cillian Murphy in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple?

Peter Mountain/Fox Searchlight

Yes, Cillian Murphy will return for *The Bone Temple*. Though he didn't appear in *28 Years Later*, the Oscar-winning actor will reprise his role as Jim, a bike courier who survived the original outbreak in* 28 Days Later*.

Murphy told *The Observer* that his role in *The Bone Temple* is brief and comes toward the end, but it sets the stage for him to play a key part in a potential third and final movie. "Everyone's got to go and see the second one," he said. "I'm sure they will – it's really, really good."**

When does *28 Years Later: The Bone Temple *come out?

*28 Years Later: The Bone Temple *hits theaters on Jan. 16, 2026.**

Where can I watch 28 Years Later?

Jeremy Renner shared a photo of the snowplow that nearly killed him three years to the day after his horrific accident

"Not today," the Marvel actor wrote across the image posted on his Instagram Stories, alongside a wink and a kiss emoji

Renner suffered severe injuries in the accident, which occurred in Reno, Nev. on Jan, 1. 2023. He was hit while saving his nephew, Alex, from being run over

Jeremy Renner marked the third anniversary of his horrific snowplow accident by sharing a photo of the vehicle that ran him over.

On Thursday, Jan. 1, the Marvel actor, 54, posted a picture on his Instagram Stories showing his 14,300-lb. Snowcat plow surrounded by trees and snow.

"Not today," Renner wrote across the image, alongside a wink and a kiss emoji, adding, "Rain Delay."

The Hawkeye star suffered severe injuries and was hospitalized in critical condition following the accident, which occurred in Reno, Nev., on Jan. 1, 2023. He was hit while saving his nephew Alex, who was 27 at the time of the accident, from being run over.

A sheriff's report obtained by CNN at the time of the accident reported that Renner was "pulled under the left side track." He was left with more than 35 broken bones.

After sharing a photo of the vehicle that nearly killed him on Thursday, Renner also marked New Year's Day by writing over another Instagram Stories snap, "Happy New Year, A New day... And new pathways filled with Love and adventure... 2026 !!!"

The second image featured a child on a path, surrounded by snow.

Through the years, Renner has spoken about his snowplow accident on multiple occasions.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in April, the actor discussed his decision to get back on the vehicle the winter after his near-death experience.

"I go right into the eye of the storm of any fear or anything," Renner told Fallon when asked about why he got back onto the machine. "I didn't want this thing to haunt me or own me by any means."

He noted that it wasn't hard to drive the snowplow again, which he referred to as being "like a tank."

"It was just interesting getting off of it because you have to step on the tracks to get off this thing. And I saw, like, little pieces of my clothing in it still. And some other things that I don't want to say," Renner recalled.

Getting back on the snowplow gave Renner a sense of closure in a way. "I just kind of wink and like, 'Ha, I made it. You can't beat me.' And I just kind of walk away," he told Fallon.

"It's kind of like breaking up with your girlfriend you hadn't seen in a while, and you get back together. And you're like, 'Yeah, you ain't that good looking,'" Renner continued.

Renner also spoke about the accident and his recovery in his memoir My Next Breath, which was released last April.

He previously told PEOPLE while promoting the book, "I'm not haunted by the incident — not too often anyway — by the images, the sounds."

"But I am reminded of my new reality, and it's wonderfully positive. I didn't die," he added at the time.
