Michael Dorn, the man who defined Worf for Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, is now helping a key cast member of the upcoming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy learn how to emote under layers of prosthetics and the weight of Klingon tradition.

Karim Diané, who plays the Klingon cadet Jay-Den Kraag, said he got a FaceTime session with Dorn right before his first day in makeup. "It was really dope to be able to talk to the Klingon, and then go and become a Klingon for the first time," Diané shared, mentioning Dorn's encouragement and practical advice helped calm his nerves before long hours under silicone.

What makes Dorn's involvement so meaningful (beyond the inherent cool factor of a Trek legend coaching new cast members) is how intimately he understands this performance challenge. In interviews over the years, Dorn has spoken candidly about the physical and emotional demands of playing Worf, including the heavy makeup that was "pretty tough" at first because of all the glue and time in the chair.

Related: 'Star Trek' Alters Iconic Alien Race and Fans Are Not Happy

Dorn once reflected on his own process by comparing auditions to muscles you have to work: you "just get better and better" by doing it and preparing yourself so that you're not afraid of the moment but ready for it. That focus and persistence are the same qualities he's now passing along to actors stepping into complex alien roles.

There's a rich history here, too. Like the new cadet Jay-Den Kraag, Dorn's Worf wasn't an average Klingon; Dorn's performance helped shift the portrayal of the species away from one-dimensional antagonists into a culture with honor, conflict, and depth. It's not hard to imagine a similar bridge being built in those conversations between Dorn and Diané, linking Trek's 1990s peak and its new frontier in 2026.

Fans are impressed with Dorn's mentorship. 'I used to be a scare actor and did 3 hours daily in the makeup chair for my prosthetics,' one fan commented. 'It's no joke how hard it is getting it applied and then spending the day working in it.' Another chimed in 'Talked to THE Klingon, you're (expletive) right.'

Considering what it must be like to perform under the pressure of both layers of latex and increasing expectations from fans, this generosity from Dorn is touching. Klingons might typically be angry, but the actors who portray them can be overwhelmingly kind.

The Biebers have been sharing a lot of pictures from their holiday celebrations.

On Friday, Justin Bieber posted a new carousel of photos with his son, Jack Blues Bieber. They appeared to be sharing an iconic father and son moment, with the pop star dangling a small fish from a fishing line for Jack to take a look at. In another photo, it seemed liked Jack was running off down the boardwalk, with water on one side of him.

In the photos, both Justin and Jack are wearing colorful graphic prints sweatshirts. Justin has on baggy denim shorts and Jack is barefoot with black leggings. Justin smiles proudly at the camera before turning back to his son.

Justin and his wife, Hailey Bieber, shared a few peeks into their cozy holiday celebrations together. Last week, Justin shared photos of Jack dressed in a Santa Claus hat and red shirt on their private plane, as well as a look at a living room decorated with a Christmas tree and stockings.

He also posted a romantic selfie with Hailey in which they are both bundled up for cold weather and smiling at the camera. In the caption, the SWAG singer wrote, "MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE BIEBERS 🫂🎅❤️"

In a November interview with GQ, Hailey talked about how she and Justin manage Jack's privacy. Though they frequently share photos, they prefer to disguise his face. Both of them are familiar with living in the spotlight and want to consider how Jack will feel as he gets older.

"We're just taking it a day at a time," she explained. "We both feel very protective of our son, and I don't think that's ever going to change, but our life is our life, and it is really public, so I think we're just going to cross every bridge that we need to when we get there. But as of right now, I feel really comfortable about the way we are sharing things and not sharing things."

"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links."

According to Dax Shepard, he and Kristen Bell had a "bonkers fun" New Year's Eve—and we can certainly see why. In photos shared to both of their Instagrams, the couple was all laughs and smiles on the holiday, celebrating 2026 with some cozy family time.

The two, who got married back in 2013, were bundled up at their night's highly-decorated festivities, seen amidst oversize flowers, floating umbrellas, and vines. For the occasion, Bell wrapped her all-black ensemble with a gray blanket and grabbed a leather handbag, while Shepard wore light-wash jeans, classic Vans, and an embroidered sweater with the perfect message going into the new year: "don't hide your magic."

On Bell's page, the Nobody Wants This actress included a few images of their children, carefully shot from behind or in motion to respect their privacy. The Hollywood couple has kept their daughters—12-year-old Lincoln and 11-year-old Delta—off of their social media pages for years now, strategically placing emojis to cover their faces. Yesterday, Bell did just that, adding hearts to a photo of the girls, in matching striped shirts and berets, with their father on his birthday.

"We're laughing because our daughter had all four fingers over all three lenses and yet somehow it took! May all of 2026 go this way," Shepard shared in his own photo dump, which included a couple shots from a boat ride with their friends. For the daytime excursion, Bell blocked the sun with a wide-brimmed straw hat, and kept warm with a white knit sweater.

"Love love loved this adventure!!!" Bell commented.

Billy Joel made a New Year's surprise return to the stage for the first time since revealing he was diagnosed with the brain disorder known as normal pressure hydrocephalus.

The "Vienna" singer paid a band that covers his music the ultimate compliment on Friday, Jan. 2, sitting in with them for a few songs at Wellington, Florida's 30th-anniversary celebration.

Joel, 67, who owns the Middlesea Farms property in the village, took the stage for a two-song concert during the tribute band Turnstiles' show at the village amphitheater.

He wore a winter jacket and a black cap and walked with a cane. There was no mistaking his voice, however, as he launched into his 1989 hit, "We Didn't Start The Fire," followed by "Big Shot," which he recorded in 1978.

Billy Joel performs alongside tribute band Turnstiles in Wellington, Florida on Jan. 2, 2026 at the village amphitheater.

"I wasn't planning on working tonight," Joel said with a laugh as he sat at the keyboard before the band, which takes its name from an album Joel released in 1976, and began to play. His daughters Della and Remy danced alongside during the two-song set.

Joel cancelled all upcoming shows after diagnosis

The "Piano Man" singer cancelled all his upcoming concerts on May 23 as his representatives confirmed that he was diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus, or NPH.

The disorder refers to when excess fluid accumulates in the brain, causing issues with thinking and reasoning as well as sometimes walking and bladder control, according to the Alzheimer's Association.

"This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision, and balance," a statement posted to Joel's Instagram said. "Under his doctor's instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period."

On a July 21 episode of Bill Maher's "Club Random" podcast, Joel said he was feeling "fine" but was having issues with his balance, adding, "It's like being on a boat." He said he initially thought his balance issues were from drinking, noting that he used to drink "like a fish."

"I feel good. They keep referring to what I have as a brain disorder, so it sounds a lot worse than what I'm feeling," Joel said.

Joel's career in music spans more than 50 years. He released his first albums in the early 1970s and became one of pop music biggest acts with the release of "The Stranger" in 1977.

Dating rumors are circulating around Alix Earle and Tom Brady after they were seen together in St. Barths.

The pair attended the same New Year's Eve party.

Earle recently split with Braxton Berrios.

Alix Earle and Tom Brady were spotted in conversation on New Year's Eve in St. Barths, leaning in for an intimate talk in a busy night club. A source speaking with Us Weekly shared more about how the influencer and NFL star met.

"Alix and Tom were together the entire night on New Year's Eve partying at a party hosted by Palm Tree Crew in St. Barths," they explained. "They met through mutual friends who were also in St. Barths and had an instant connection. There was a lot of chemistry between them."

The insider added that Earle was "really into hanging out with" Brady. However, she recently split with her ex-boyfriend, Braxton Berrios, and isn't looking for "anything serious" at the moment.

"It's nothing serious between her and Tom, but they were together laughing, dancing and partying, enjoying themselves," the source explained.

Brady was supposedly "hesitant" about making a public appearance with Earle, but "didn't want to leave her side."

The insider stated Earle felt she "needed" the holiday trip and "is in a phase of saying yes to fun experiences and not overthinking anything."

"She's just having fun right now and letting loose," the source said. "She has been in great spirits while on vacation and seems happy and ready to have fun again."

Just before the new year, Earle shared the details of her breakup with her many TikTok followers.

"Braxton and I are no longer together," she explained. "We have been doing long distance since, basically, June and we haven't got to see each other that often. It's just been really difficult for me."

She added, "We're on good terms and I don't want anyone to come for him or be mean to him. I think I ultimately just wanted to go with trusting my feelings. This has just been really hard. … It's not drama. It's not because he did anything wrong or I did anything wrong. It just didn't really feel like it was working out, in the moment."

Evangeline Lilly says she suffered brain damage from a traumatic injury in Hawaii in May.

The Lost star said her brain's "decreased capacity" has helped her slow down for "a more restful finish" to 2025.

Lilly previously revealed that she fainted on the beach and "fell face-first into a boulder."

Evangeline Lilly is sharing an update on her health.

After fainting on the beach in Hawaii in May and hitting her head on a boulder, the Ant-Man and the Wasp actress announced that she sustained brain damage from the incident.

"It's late on January 1, the first day of 2026, and I'm entering into this new year, the year of the horse with some bad news about my concussion," she began in an Instagram video. "A lot of you asked how I'm doing. A lot of you have inquired about the brain scans that you heard I got."

Lilly then revealed that she experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI) when she hit her head. "The results came back from the scans, and almost every area in my brain is functioning at a decreased capacity," she said. "So I do have brain damage from the TBI, and possibly other factors going on."

The Lost actress added that it's up to her to make intentional efforts on the road to recovery. "Now my job is to get to the bottom of that with the doctors and then embark on the hard work of fixing it, which I don't look forward to, because I feel like hard work is all I do," she said. "But that's okay."

Lilly went on to explain that the accident has forced her to relax a bit more. "My cognitive decline since I smashed my face open has helped me to slow down and helped me to have a more restful finish to my 2025," she said. "I think this was the calmest, most restful Christmas holiday I have had maybe since I had children, so 14 years ago. So that's a good thing."

The Real Steel star closed her remarks on an optimistic note. "Feeling extraordinarily grateful and blessed to be able to play one more day and one more year on this beautiful living planet," she said. "And that is my concussion update. Thank you all for caring."

Lilly first announced the accident in a Substack post in May. "I fainted at the beach. And fell face-first into a boulder," she wrote at the time. "At the hospital, the nurses and doctor went straight into action, more determined to find the cause of my blackout than to stitch up the hole punctured into my face by the rock. I smiled wryly at them. 'You won't find anything,' I said with a woozy voice."

The actress said she has experienced fainting spells since her childhood without a concrete explanation, though doctors assumed she had hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar, without testing her for the condition. Eventually, however, they ruled that out after the actress underwent extensive testing as an adult.

Doctors have yet to explain where her fainting spells come from, but she has her own theory about her blacking out. "I have come to believe that this 'checking out' is a result of my little soul reaching her limit of what she feels she can cope with in this life, and she 'leaves the building,' so to speak," she wrote. "Or 'leaves the meat suit' might be a better way of putting it."

Lilly previously announced that she was "stepping away" from Hollywood in June 2024. Her last screen performance was in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in 2023.

Nathan Fillion and Jenna Dewan tell PEOPLE that the season 8 premiere of The Rookie, which was filmed in Prague, was like "an action film"

The pair play married couple John Nolan and Bailey Nune on the police procedural, and the characters use the European location as their "second honeymoon"

The Rookie season 8 kicks off on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC and will be available to stream on Hulu the following day

Nathan Fillion is promising plenty of excitement in the upcoming season of The Rookie.

For the first time ever, the hit ABC series is going overseas, kicking off the season 8 premiere in Prague. The actor, 54, along with on-screen wife, Jenna Dewan, recently sat down with PEOPLE to tease what's in store for their beloved characters, John Nolan and Bailey Nune, as they embark on this international adventure.

"It felt different. It was amazing. We had an incredible time," Dewan, 45, shares. "You feel like you are back in time. It just felt so special. It felt like we were in the midst of a film, an action film. It was so cool."

"It felt like a James Bond movie," Fillion chimes in. "It really did. I wasn't wearing a cop uniform — I was wearing a suit. I felt very fancy. And we're walking in these incredible squares and beside these beautiful rivers."

"I felt very, very badass," the Step Up alum admits.

Fillion also notes that Prague was the perfect place for Nolan and Bailey to have their "second honeymoon" after their first was "kind of a bust."

"It was a lot of murder," Dewan quips. "So this one felt like, well, while we're here, let's make this romantic because how can you not?"

Still, she reveals that the plan for a peaceful getaway doesn't exactly go as smoothly as they had hoped. "Lots of unexpected yet bonding adrenaline," she teases, as Fillion jokes, "Beggars can't be choosers. Yet, I think they're two very grateful people who enjoy each other at the very least."

Dewan adds: "I always say I think it is the blending of tones that really works well because we give strong action. There's a lot of suspense and scare almost, but there's so much comedy, and there's a lot of banter and there's the romance."

If the pair had to describe what fans will see from their characters in the police procedural's latest installment with just three words, they would say: teamwork, friction and opportunity.

While they weren't filming, the costars say another perk of the European location was the vacations and excursions they were able to go on. Fillion even extended his trip and Dewan decided to go solo.

"I was the busiest because I went sans kids," she explains. "I was — every free moment I had — living. We went to dinners, we did tours. I felt like I finally matured to the point where I wanted to do tours all day long. It took me a while, but now, firmly, I want to learn about history and tours."

"It was so good," she gushes. "The castles — it was fun."

The Rookie season 8 premieres on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC and will be available to stream on Hulu the following day.
