Jeremiah Wilkinson scored a season high 31 points, including a pair of 3-pointers in overtime, to help No. 23 Georgia outlast visiting Auburn 104-100 on Saturday in a Southeastern Conference opener for both teams at Athens, Ga.

The victory ended Georgia's five-game losing streak to Auburn.

Georgia trailed 98-95 with 2:56 left in overtime when Wilkinson scored seven straight points help the Bulldogs regain the lead at 102:98 with 1:00 remaining. Georgia sealed it with 5.3 seconds left when Dylan James stole a pass and made two free throws for his only points of the game.

Auburn pulled off an improbable rally in the final second of regulation to send the game into overtime.

Trailing 92-88 after Somto Cyril's dunk, Auburn's Keyshawn Hall was fouled on a 3-point shot with 0.7 seconds remaining. Hall made the first two free throws, intentionally missed the third and Kevin Overton grabbed the rebound and scored to force overtime.

Wilkinson was 9 of 21 from the floor and 4 of 10 on 3-point attempts to help Georgia (13-1, 1-0 SEC) post its school-record seventh 100-point game. He scored 18 in the first half.

The Bulldogs also got a season-high 24 points from Marcus Millender, who had five 3-pointers. Cyril added 15 points, six rebounds and five blocked shots and Blue Cain scored 15.

Tahaad Pettiford scored 15 of his 25 points in the first half for Auburn (9-5, 0-1) before fouling out. Hall scored 20 points with seven rebounds and Overton had 19 points and seven rebounds. Filip Jovic had his first double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds before fouling out.

Wilkinson hit a jumper at the buzzer for a 47-45 lead at halftime. Auburn failed to make a field goal in the final 3:59 of the first half.

The Bulldogs led by as many as nine points early in the second half but could not put away the Tigers away. Auburn took a 74-73 lead with 5:37 remaining on a 3-pointer by Freeman and a bucket by Overton.

Georgia regained the lead with a 6-0 run, punctuated by a Millender 3-pointer, and held the advantage until the last-second theatrics.

AJ Dybantsa scored 24 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had three steals to lead No. 10 BYU to an 83-73 win over Kansas State in the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams on Saturday in Manhattan, Kan.

Robert Wright III added 18 points, Richie Saunders pitched in 13 points and Keba Keita had a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds for the Cougars (13-1, 1-0 Big 12), winners of 10th straight games.

PJ Haggerty led Kansas State (9-5, 0-1) with 24 points. Abdi Bashir Jr. scored 16 points, David Castillo chipped in 13 points off the bench and Khamari McGriff added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Wildcats, who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

In the early going, a Nate Johnson steal led to a Bashir Jr. 3-pointer. On the next BYU possession, a Mobi Ikegwuruka takeaway led to Haggerty's transition layup as Kansas State led 9-5 at the first media timeout.

The Cougars had 19 turnovers, while the Wildcats only gave it away 12 times. Kansas State held a 17-7 edge in points off turnovers.

As BYU shook off the rust from a 12-day break, it went on a 9-0 run in which Dybantsa was a catalyst. He tallied the last six points of the rally with a three-point play and a trey from the wing as BYU took a 23-18 lead at the 11:55 mark.

The Wildcats went nearly seven minutes without a field goal as the Cougars built a 35-28 lead on a Mihailo Boskovic three. Saunders corner three put the Cougars up 43-33 with 1:02 remaining in the first half.

Because BYU came out of the locker room ice cold, the Cougars had just one field goal in over three minutes of second-half action and Kansas State was able to chip away at its deficit. Bashir's jumper cut the Cougars' lead to 47-41. But Wright III drilled a three and BYU led 50-41.

As Dybantsa was fouled on a jumper for a three-point play, BYU opened up a 70-58 advantage. Kansas State pulled within 78-71 on a McGriff layup with 2:21 remaining.

Moments later, Keita nailed a pair of free throws as BYU led 80-71. Wright followed with two free throws for more breathing room.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Tyler Tanner had 19 points and a career-high 14 assists, AK Okereke scored 17 and No. 11 Vanderbilt improved to 14-0 with an 83-71 victory over South Carolina on Saturday.

The Commodores (1-0 Southeastern Conference) are off to their best start since the 2007-08 team opened 16-0. They did it against the Gamecocks (9-5, 0-1) without leading scorer Duke Miles, who missed his second straight contest with an undisclosed injury.

Miles absence didn't slow down Vanderbilt one bit. It used an early 13-0 run — which started on Okereke's 3-pointer — to lead 15-4 over the first six minutes. When South Carolina closed 34-30 with 4:13 before the half, Vanderbilt ended the period with an 8-4 run sparked by another three from Okereke to lead 42-34.

Vanderbilt ended any chance of a Gamecocks' rally with a 12-3 run to start the second half and were never pressured the rest of the way.

The Commodores face a test to keep their streak going next time out when they return home to play No. 14 Alabama. Should they get past the Tide, they'll look to match their program-best 16-0 start at home next weekend against LSU.

If Vanderbilt shows this kind of depth, it will be difficult for any opponent to slow them down. The Commodores finished with five players in double figures and shot over 50% from the field. They outrebounded the Gamecocks 37-25 and did not have a shot blocked by South Carolina.

Tyler Nickel had 16 points with four of Vanderbilt's 10 3-pointers. Devin McGlockton added 15 points for the Commodores.

Elijah Strong led South Carolina with 17 points.

OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Brianne Jenner scored twice to lead the Ottawa Charge to a 5-2 win over the Minnesota Frost on Saturday.

It marked just the second regulation victory for the Charge (2-3-0-5), who have won four straight games.

Emily Clark, Sarah Wozniewicz and Katerina Mrazova also scored for Ottawa and Gwyneth Philips made 24 saves. Jenner iced the win with an empty-net goal with 2:44 remaining.

Kelly Pannek and Britta Curl-Salemme scored for the Frost (4-1-1-3). Maddie Rooney stopped 17 shots.

The Charge opened the scoring early in the first period on a backdoor tap-in for Jenner.

The Frost tied it with a power-play goal 38 seconds into the second period. Philips thought she had secured the puck, but Pannek knocked it in for her fourth goal of the season.

Ottawa pulled away later in the period with three goals in just over six minutes.

Clark delivered a highlight-reel goal on an end-to-end rush, putting the puck through Sidney Morin's legs before beating Rooney on the far side. Wozniewicz tallied a few minutes later and Mrazova added a power-play goal.

The Frost scored late in the period when Ottawa was unable to clear the puck. Pannek found Curl-Salemme out front and she beat Philips on the glove side.

The Toronto Blue Jays made another big splash coming off their first World Series trip in more than three decades, agreeing to a deal with Japanese slugger Kazuma Okamoto, according to multiple reports.

Okamoto, 29, hit 30 home runs every year from 2018-23, clubbing a career-high 41 in 2023 for the Yomiuri Giants. A right-handed hitter, Okamoto has split time between first and third base in recent seasons, also getting some reps in the outfield.

Okamoto is the latest acquisition in a busy offseason for the Blue Jays, who have already signed pitchers Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce and Tyler Rogers since losing in seven games to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2025 Fall Classic.

The Japanese import could become Toronto's primary third baseman with Addison Barger presently penciled in at the hot corner. While Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is entrenched at first base for the Blue Jays, Okamoto could also provide the $500 million man with some defensive days off.

MILAN (AP) — Juventus forward Jonathan David had a penalty saved as the Bianconeri were held to a surprise 1-1 draw by relegation-threatened Lecce in Serie A on Saturday.

Weston McKennie canceled out Lameck Banda's shock opener for Lecce and David had a chance to give his side the lead in the 66th minute but his poor penalty kick was saved by Wladimiro Falcone.

The point put Juventus level with fourth-placed Roma, which was playing at Atalanta later and looking to join Inter Milan in second spot in Serie A.

Lecce inched five points above the relegation zone.

Earlier, Como moved to within three points of the top four after a Lucas Da Cunha penalty gave them a 1-0 win over Udinese.

There was a minute's silence before kickoff in every game in Serie A this weekend for the victims of the fire at a Crans-Montana bar.

Juventus almost took an early lead but Falcone managed to get a hand to David's header and the ball rolled across the line, hit the post and rebounded back into the grateful goalkeeper's hands.

Juventus dominated and had numerous chances but it was Lecce which took a surprise lead in first-half stoppage time.

There seemed little danger when Juventus defender Andrea Cambiaso rolled a ball towards teammate Pierre Kalulu but it was underpowered and Banda rushed in to intercept before cutting past two opponents and firing into the near corner.

Juventus leveled almost immediately after the break as McKennie touched on a cross and rushed into the area, right in front of goal, to control the return pass from Kenan Yıldız and fire home.

It was McKennie's first goal in Serie A this season although the United States international has scored two in the Champions League.

Juventus had a chance to take the lead when it was awarded a penalty after Lecce midfielder Mohamed Kaba blocked David's effort with his arm. David stepped up but the Canada forward's penalty was central and weak and was saved by Falcone.

David almost atoned for his error late on but his fierce strike was brilliantly saved by Falcone. Yıldız also hit the post deep in stoppage time as Juventus laid siege to the goal.

Relegation battle

Genoa drew with Pisa 1-1 in a relegation tussle that will please neither side.

Pisa midfielder Mehdi Leris equalized in chaotic circumstances at the end of the first half to cancel out Lorenzo Colombo's screamer.

Genoa, which occupies the last position of safety, was left three points ahead of Pisa and Hellas Verona, which has played two matches fewer than those two teams.

Parma was six points above the drop zone after drawing at mid-table Sassuolo 1-1.

NBA bans Magic's Jalen Suggs from wearing headband on neck

The NBA and its uniform police have another suspect in custody.

This time, it's about headbands.

Orlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs has been wearing a headband around his neck to start games and his explanation for doing so goes back to playing high school football before he ended up playing basketball for Gonzaga.

Suggs, who is in his fifth NBA season, said he doesn't have an explanation for the unique fashion statement.

"I wear it on my neck and once I feel into the game, into the flow I put it on my head and we rock," Suggs said earlier this season. "That's just me being J-Suggs."

"Really, it originates as football drip—that's where it stems from. But I don't know, there really isn't much else to it. I wear it on my neck, and once I get into the game, into the flow, I put it on my head and we rock."

During the television broadcast of Orlando's game against the Chicago Bulls on Friday, it was explained that the NBA told Suggs he begin the game with the headband situated where it was initially intended – and not as a choker around his neck.

The last time the NBA had an issue with headgear was the 2019-2020 season, when it banned the "ninja-style" headbands, citing safety concerns about their length and how they were tied.

Suggs is averaging 15 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game this season for Orlando.
