Derek Hough said his sister Julianne Hough is already shaping up to be the “best aunt” to his infant daughter, Everley

The new dad called parenthood “the pinnacle,” sharing that his priorities have shifted since welcoming his first baby with wife Hayley Erbert Hough in December 2025

The couple's joyful milestone follows a difficult few years, including a miscarriage, serious health scare and recovery journey, which Derek said makes parenthood even more meaningful

New dad Derek Hough is revealing what his sister Julianne Hough is like as an aunt.

Derek caught up with PEOPLE exclusively at Disney's Toast to Television Red Carpet in Los Angeles on April 27. During the conversation, the dancer and choreographer, 40, shared that it's been “amazing” watching Julianne, 37, become an aunt to his baby daughter, Everley.

“I mean, she's gonna be the best aunt in the world. My girl's gonna get spoiled — that's for sure — from Aunt Julianne. That's for sure,” he said.

Derek and his wife, Hayley Erbert Hough, welcomed Everley on Dec. 29, 2025.

Derek called dad life “the best” while speaking with PEOPLE at the Disney event, sharing that parenthood is now his No. 1 priority.

“You know, being in the industry, you wanna do great in your career and be at the top of the game and do this, achieve this,” he said. “But being a dad now — that's the pinnacle. That's the top. Everything else is now just a bonus, you know what I mean? That is the echelon right there.”

Derek has previously opened up about how becoming a dad profoundly changed him as a human.

While speaking to PEOPLE during his and Hayley's January PEOPLE cover shoot, the host recalled his first-ever outing as a dad to the 2026 Golden Globes.

“Everybody was asking me, 'You going to the afterparties?' ” he recalled. “I remember saying it out loud for the first time: ‘No, no. I'm going straight home to my daughter … and now I got to go because I'm about to cry.' ”

Everley's birth marked a long-awaited period of joy for Derek and Hayley, 31 — a former Dancing with the Stars troupe member.

In 2022, the couple was involved in a serious car accident that required Hayley to get four stitches on her forehead.

A year later, Hayley was rushed to the hospital mid-performance on their Symphony of Dance tour and nearly lost her life after a burst blood vessel caused a brain bleed. She had to have about 40% of her skull removed to relieve the pressure and later underwent a second surgery for a skull implant.

Around the same time the following year, Hayley had a miscarriage.

“She's been through so much,” Derek said of his wife during the PEOPLE cover shoot.

“To see her go from where she was to now, giving birth, is amazing. My daughter has a great example here,” he added.

“We've had so many moments in life that are not as great,” Hayley added during the interview. “So she's our rainbow after the storm.”

As for whether Derek hopes Everley will dance someday?

“Dance is so good for anybody, even if they don't want to become a dancer — for discipline, for community, for awareness of your body, for control. I recommend it to every single human being on this planet,” he said at the Disney event.

Heidi Klum attended the Met Gala in an ensemble that made her look like a real-life marble sculpture.

The Project Runway host was last seen at the event in 2025, after a 12-year hiatus.

Klum previously told ELLE that she takes a “more is more” approach to fashion.

Heidi Klum is no stranger to going all out with her Halloween costumes, so when she walked the steps of the 2026 Met Gala this evening, she was more than prepared to make a grand entrance with her look.

The Project Runway host walked the red carpet for the event in a sculptural gown that gave the appearance of marble. She also covered her face in the same marble material, which made her look like a statue come to life—a fitting look for the night’s “Costume Art” theme.

Klum’s look served as a bold departure from her 2025 Met Gala appearance. For last year’s “Tailored For You” theme, she went simple in a custom strapless black gown by Vetements that contained a carpet-grazing train. Her appearance at the Met Gala that year marked her first attendance in 12 years.

Klum spoke with ELLE editor-in-chief Nina Garcia about her “more is more” fashion philosophy in September, explaining that she feels a sense of responsibility to be bold with her fashion choices.

“I feel like I am out, there's people all over the place that see when I'm going somewhere. I'm not gonna go in something snoozy,” she told Garcia. “I feel like I'm in the industry of dreaming, of exploring newness, seeing different makeup or outfits, so I feel like I need to be wearing these fun things.”

Some of her fashion choices has led to backlash online, but Klum said that she does “not want to change.” She added, “I was on the [fashion]don't page so many times, there were these fashion TV shows you just walk the carpet and they rip you to shreds, but I feel like we're all individually different. I was always more colorful, and i wouldn't listen to anybody.”

It'sMet Galaseason, and fashionistas won't want to miss this year's parade of striking (and often outrageous) ensembles.

In addition to eyebrows, the gala will raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. Rather appropriately, the Institute's spring 2026 exhibition centers on "Costume Art." It will serve to inaugurate the Met's new Condé M. Nast Galleries, which span nearly 12,000 square feet.

The festivities kick off tonight, and while only those with invitations will experience the gala itself, the red carpet arrivals will be available to stream. How? Keep scrolling to find out that and everything else you need to know about the 2026 Met Gala.

This year's theme is "Costume Art," which is also the name of the Met'sspring 2026 exhibition. The exhibition "explores depictions of the dressed body across The Met’s vast collection, pairing garments with artworks to reveal the inherent relationship between clothing and the body," per a description.

Coinciding with the theme, the dress code is "Fashion Is Art," which will surely inspire a diverse range of sartorial interpretations.

She added, “We’re very grateful for her incredible generosity, so we’re thrilled she’s part of the night.”

During a March 3 appearance onToday, Lauren said her involvement with the 2026 Met Gala "has been such a fun and meaningful experience."

“These designers are true artists,” she continued. “[Elsa] Schiaparelli was best friends with Salvador Dalí, and his medium was a canvas, and hers was clothing. It's going to be incredible to see what everyone wears and to be able to really honor all these designers."

Brenda Song Says Macaulay Culkin Is 'Always Worried' She'll 'Get into a Fight' at an L.A. Lakers Game

Brenda Song revealed she once hyperventilated watching a Los Angeles Lakers game and ended up at the hospital

NEED TO KNOW

  • Song said her fiancé, Macaulay Culkin, worries about her animated reactions and potential confrontations at games

  • The actress stars in Netflix's basketball-themed series Running Point and is a lifelong Lakers fan

When it comes to her dedication to Los Angeles Lakers fandom,Brenda Songdoesn't hold back.

Song, 38, has frequently been spotted sitting courtside at games with her fiancé,Macaulay Culkin. However, while he watches peacefully, theRunning Pointactress gets very into it and frequently reacts to various plays.

Song appeared on a recent episode ofKylie Kelce'sNot Gonna Liepodcast, where she spoke about her animated reactions and how Culkin, 45, feels about her passion for the NBA team.

"How superstitious are you?" Kylie, 34, asked. "This is a safe space for supersitition."

"I've been better now, because I literally went to the hospital watching a Lakers game at home," Song replied. "I hyperventilated because I was watching a game, it was game seven of the Western Conference Finals, Lakers [vs.] Sacramento. I talk about this all the time because it was so anxiety-ridden. The game was really close, and I had taken a little sip of water."

Song explained that she keeps a "superstition of the season" and as she sipped her water, the Lakers scored. "So, I just kept taking sips of water," she added.

While the team won, she hyperventilated so much that she went to the hospital, but still watched the post-game in the waiting room.

"They had to turn off all the TVs," she recalled.

"Mac is always worried that I'm going to get into a fight at a game," Song then revealed. "I have no problem. Especially if you're coming to our house, get out of here."

In April 2025, the Lakers hilariously put a mic on Song and shared her reactions on their social media. "C'monLeBron [James]," she was heard saying. "Smack this boy out of here."

She frequently chants and stands up at games, as Culkin laughs and claps beside her.

"That was actually still pretty tame," Song said Kelce. "I feel like with basketball right now, my fandom is different. WhenKobe [Bryant]was playing, you could have never mic'ed me up. I would go after players, families and children. I was that level of crazy. I really feel like I am so much calmer than I would be at a Rams game. I would just be yelling the entire time. My goal is to be an assistant defensive coordinator."

"I mean, you might have to ask Mac. He'll probably say something different, but I do feel like I'm more chilled than I used to be," Song continued.

Song and Culkin first met in 2014 and began dating in 2017. They welcomed son Dakota in 2021, followed by son Carson in 2022.

On Netflix's basketball-themed seriesRunning Point, Song plays Ali, the chief of staff for the fictional basketball team, the Los Angeles Waves, and stars alongsideKate Hudson,Drew Tarver,Chet Hanksand more.

Culkin also makes a cameo in the new season after Song "pitched ideas for his character."

“When I heardMindy Kalingwas doing an untitled basketball project starring Kate Hudson, I was like, ‘What do I need to do? Do I need to give blood to be a part of this show? This is my dream,’ " Song told PEOPLE in April.

“I've been watching basketball my entire life,” she continued. “I grew up watchingMichael Jordan. My dad's a huge Michael Jordan fan, so big Chicago Bulls fan. Dave and Ike are from Chicago, Scotty MacArthur, who plays Ness, also from Chicago. So our love of Michael Jordan … [we were] chatting about that. But in '96, when Kobe got drafted to the Lakers, got traded for Vlade Divac, I became a Lakers fan.”

Since Song appeared on season 1 of the show, which premiered in 2025, she has gone on to have some wild moments as a major Lakers fan.

“The other night we were at a game, and I was just like, ‘I cannot believe I'm sitting back in the tunnel of Crypto, talking toJeanie Buss.Pau Gasolis right there,’ ” Song shared. “SGA [Shai Gilgeous-Alexander] wanted to take a picture with us because he lovesRunning Point. I'm like, ‘What is happening?’ "

Needless to say, if the Los Angeles Lakers are going to have any chance of winning their upcoming NBA playoff series against the Oklahoma City Thunder, every rotation player will need to step up, especially offensively. That means no passivity, no lazy passes and no passing up shots, at a minimum.

In their previous series against the Houston Rockets, guard Luke Kennard started out as hot as a summer afternoon in Southeast Texas. In the first two games, he scored a combined 50 points and shot 17-of-26 from the field and 8-of-11 from 3-point range. But since then, the sharpshooter has managed to score only 25 points in four games while shooting 26.7% overall and 15.4% from downtown.

Melissa Rohlin, who covers the Lakers for the California Post, wrote in a recent article that Kennard will be the team's X-factor in the upcoming series versus the Thunder.

"The Lakers have a Luke Kennard problem," Rohlin wrote.

"He defers too much.

"Against a Thunder team with the NBA’s top-rated defense, Kennard will be the X-factor in their second-round playoff series. Without Luka Doncic, the Thunder will collapse on LeBron James and Austin Reaves.

"The Lakers desperately need scoring help. They need a sharpshooter to open up the court. They need a 3-point specialist.

"They need Kennard."

Kennard is a little too selective with when he takes shots sometimes. While he led the NBA in 3-point accuracy during the regular season for the third time with a 47.8% rate, he attempted 5.2 3-pointers per 36 minutes, which isn't a low number but isn't a high volume either. Coach JJ Redick said he would encourage Kennard to be more aggressive in looking to shoot the ball shortly after Kennard arrived in a February trade, but the guard hasn't consistently done so.

Rohlin set the bar high for Kennard in her article by defining a goal for him in this series.

"The Lakers need Kennard to be their third-leading scorer. To be aggressive. To hunt for his shot.

"... Even though he’s going to share the court with James and Reaves, he needs to play as though he’s a star.

"He needs to think of himself as a scorer. He needs to make his presence known."

Against the Thunder, the Lakers need points, more points and more points. Oklahoma City has one of the best defenses seen in recent memory, and it forces turnovers in bunches and led the league in points off turnovers during the regular season.

If Kennard is aggressive enough on a consistent basis, it will stretch Oklahoma City's defense and make its players move their feet instead of being able to simply remain in place and bait the Lakers into making risky passes. The Lakers need to play with pace, both in transition and in the halfcourt, and exercise constant ball and player movement.

Kennard has moved back to the bench with Reaves' recent return from an oblique strain. Los Angeles was 29th in bench scoring this season, which puts even more of an onus on Kennard to look to score rather than simply looking to hit open shots.

It's something he's capable of doing. But as Rohlin alluded to, he will have to change his mindset, at least for a fortnight or so.
