46 years ago today, on May 3, 1980, Debby Boone scored a No. 1 hit with her country classic, “Are You on the Road to Lovin’ Me Again.” By the time she had marked that milestone, the singer had already established herself in the pop genre, having scored big with her long-running signature hit and timeless love anthem, “You Light Up My Life.”

Boone, the squeaky-clean daughter of Pat Boone, had a knack for finding success in different genres, which showcased both her talent and impressive versatility, according to American Songwriter.

A Crossover Success

With “Are You on the Road to Lovin’ Me Again,” she proved yet again that she could experience major crossover success following previous stints in pop throughout the ‘70s and in gospel music before that, where she performed alongside her sisters as part of The Boone Girls.

Before landing her No. 1 country smash, Boone’s foray into the country genre began in 1978 with the song “In Memory of Your Love.” She followed that song with a string of covers and a self-titled album. But it wasn’t until her next album, Love Has No Reason, that things began to take shape.

“Are You on the Road to Lovin’ Me Again” belonged on Love Has No Reason. Not only did the song bring Boone new success, but it also made chart history for women in country music.

A Triumph for Female Country Artists

Two weeks before reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, the tune was climbing from No. 3, positioned among four other tracks by women that made up a historic all-female Top 5. Those spots included Crystal Gayle’s “It’s Like We Never Said Goodbye,” Dottie West’s “A Lesson in Leavin’,” Emmylou Harris’ “Beneath Still Waters,” and Tammy Wynette’s “Two Story House” with George Jones.

The Lyrics

Written by Debbie Hupp and Bob Morrison and produced by Larry Butler, “Are You on the Road to Lovin’ Me Again” finds the singer asking her love interest, with a feeling of uncertainty, if their relationship will progress in a forward motion. Featuring a laid-back melody with bright acoustics and fitting shakers, the tune focuses on a romance that appears to have been pushed aside but has been left open, with the possibility for a second chance. Boone asks her former flame if he has returned to her to just “pass time” or if he’s looking for a way back to her heart.

Making a Change

Though Boone managed to secure a top song, becoming a standout in the country format, she didn’t stick with the genre for very long. A year after making waves, and following up her No. 1 hit with two more singles — “Free to Be Lonely Again” and “Take It Like a Woman” — and another country album, 1981’s Savin’ It Up, Boone transitioned her focus toward contemporary Christian music and theater, later earning multiple Grammy Awards and four Top 10 Contemporary Christian albums, among other successes.

A death scene? For *The Devil Wears Prada 2*? That's *actually* kind of groundbreaking, as director David Frankel tells *,* the sequel's shocking twist was definitely meant to catch audiences by surprise.

While the core returning cast — including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci — emerges relatively unscathed at the end of the sequel, the same can't be said for actor Tibor Feldman, whose *Runway* chairman Irv Ravitz was a goner from the start.

"We both knew we needed something dramatic — a dramatic twist," Frankel tells EW of devising the sequel script with fellow returning creative, writer Aline Brosh McKenna. "Who can we kill? It evolved to Irv. It totally made sense."

Frankel adds that it became clear Irv "had to die," as the story's second half largely hinges on a battle for his successor — and, as a result, the future of *Runway* magazine.

In the scene, Irv collapses at his birthday celebration, with *Runway* editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly (Streep) watching in horror as her longtime colleague keels over at the lavish event.

"It couldn't just be that he's in a coma somewhere. Irv had to go," Frankel says. The businessman's death paves the way for a pivotal battle for *Runway*, involving a tussle that sees his son, Jay Ravitz (B.J. Novak), weigh his options. Does he let his insufferable army of finance bro underlings swarm over the media entity, or spin it off to tech titan Benji Barnes (Justin Theroux), an Elon Musk-esque figure whose romance with ex-*Runway* staffer Emily Charlton (Blunt) fuels his bid to acquire the fashion institution.

"Because you have this takeover, the whole company becomes vulnerable. For us, it kind of recalls the taxi accident with Emily in the first one. It's something you don't see coming that actually really pivots the story in a fun, dramatic way," Frankel says.

Feldman, who also appeared in a small role in the 2006 original, also clearly enjoyed his character's demise.

"Tibor was great, and he was funny. He wanted to see his own funeral, so he came to the service just to see how Irv was remembered," recalls Frankel. "The most memorable part of that, aside from the dialogue and Justin's improvs, which were hilarious: Kenneth Branagh learned to play the violin for that scene. He knew he was playing a violinist; he trained for weeks to learn how to finger and bow, and he was really professional about it. He's playing there, which is pretty cool."

Other returning stars include Tracie Thoms and twins Suzanne and Colleen Dengel, who played Miranda's twin daughters in the first film. Frankel tells EW that he and his team also wanted supermodel Gisele Bündchen to reprise her role as *Runway* staffer Serena, but scheduling complications around the 2025 birth of the star's baby prevented her from joining the production.

He adds that he wanted to fit in a cameo for Adrian Grenier — whom EW previously exclusively revealed wouldn't return as Andy's original love interest, Nate — but timing didn't ultimately work out.

Katherine Pierce was a staple of the *Vampire Diaries* universe. But at one point in the series, the writers had to fight to tell more of her story.

"We had to negotiate for the right to let Nina [Dobrev] play Katherine again because the season 2 Katherine [story] had really taken everything out of her and the network was being very protective," executive producer Julie Plec says about the show's fifth season during episode 5 of *EW's Binge: The Vampire Diaries*. "[The network] and studio were being very protective and they were like, 'You can't do that anymore, you can't have Katherine.'"

On an earlier episode of the podcast, Dobrev spoke about how exhausted she was at the end of season 2, the first season in which she played both Elena and Katherine in the present day. So when it came time to make Katherine human and even introduce a third Petrova doppelgänger, the writers had to get creative. "We had to basically beg the network to let us even write story for Katherine," Plec says, noting that "the triplegänger made the whole thing worth it."

Fans will remember that season 5 featured Katherine taking over Elena's body, which meant that for a good chunk of the season, Dobrev only had one character to play. And then, eventually, Katherine met her demise, a decision that also came about following those negotiations. "I literally think we had to say we'll kill her in order to get permission to use her," Plec recalls.

Additionally, during the podcast, Plec discusses the choice to have Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) be the two characters who "die" together at the end of season 5, which led to a discussion about Bamon, the popular ship. "Bonnie and Damon had a thing in the books we had sort of always said, 'We don't buy a romantic connection between Bonnie and Damon because Damon's just done too many terrible things and Bonnie just has more integrity than that,'" Plec says. "But we wanted to service that relationship in the canon a little bit."

The Los Angeles Rams' nemesis in 2025 was the Seattle Seahawks. They beat the Rams in Week 16 when first place in the NFC West and the No. 1 seed were up for grabs, and then knocked Los Angeles out of the playoffs in the conference title game.

The Rams did win their first meeting with Mike Macdonald's team in Week 11, but when it mattered most, Los Angeles came up short.

There's no doubt they're the top team standing in the Rams' way next season, but Los Angeles has a roster capable of dethroning the defending champs. Byron Young spoke to DJ Siddiqi of R.org recently and explained what the Rams must do to beat the Seahawks in 2026, saying it'll come down to the little things.

“We have to finish,” Young said. “That’s a complete team. That’s a team where you can’t give them a chance, you won’t give them much type of chance, because that’s how you lose. You can’t make mistakes like that, the small mistakes we made, because that’s how you lose.

“Beating a team like that is eliminating the mistakes and capitalizing off their mistakes. Just keep playing that type of football, we could play that brand of football. I think that’s the key to beating teams like that, because they score, they’re going to make big plays, because that is a good team. They’re hungry, they’re trying to continue that repeat, so it’s our job.”

The Rams made too many mistakes down the stretch in their two losses to the Seahawks, whether it was allowing a punt return touchdown in Week 16 or failing to get into the end zone late in the fourth quarter of the NFC title game. And even after coming up short on offense, they failed to get a stop defensively when the game was on the line.

With an improved secondary and the same explosive offense, the Rams are built to beat the Seahawks. They just have to execute.

“Who is that?” we all whispered from the Harper’s Bazaar offices, staring blankly at the Met Gala live stream as a seemingly elderly gentleman took to the red carpet. The mystery man wore a simple black suit and walked onto the carpet with a cane. But there was something familiar about the shape of his face and the expression in his eyes—there was certainly laughter in them. He opened his mouth to speak to an interviewer—it was Bad Bunny in full facial prosthetics.

Not everyone went so far as to disguise themselves—aside from Heidi Klum coated in a layer of alabaster—but some semblance of the artificial body was present across a range of attendees’ looks. Kylie Jenner arrived in a sculpted corset with two layers, one nude and sculpted like the body, the other white brocade appearing to be in the midst of peeling off. Her under layer featured sculpted nipples and a carved belly button. Then, Kendall Jenner turned up in a custom Gap Studio by Zac Posen gown that looked like a wet sculpted T-shirt, one shoulder slipped down to reveal a strapless bra also featuring a molded nipple. The body, whether or not it belonged to the wearer, was on full display.

The Met Gala christens the opening of the Costume Institute’s spring 2026 exhibition, titled “Costume Art.” The format of the exhibition centers around the dressed body. It’s sectioned around the pregnant, naked, classical, mortal, abstract, anatomical, disabled, aging, and corpulent bodies. Each sets out to deconstruct the rigid beauty ideals in place around bodies today. Ironically, this was the Met Gala where we expected to see all the naked dresses. The barely there ensembles dominated the red carpets of 2025, revealing a lot about the social-media-fueled, image-obsessed, GLP-1 era in which we currently reside. In fact, naked dresses became so ubiquitous that they have perhaps begun to lose their shock factor. For the 2026 Met Gala, the dressed body was dressed as a body, for sure, but often an artificial one.

Kim Kardashian, the founder of the body-centric brand Skims, wore a custom look from British pop-artisan duo Allen Jones and Patrick Whitaker. The dress featured a sculpted gold breastplate with cone-shaped breasts and a molded stomach. The breast plate trend with sculpted chests and stomachs continued with Hailey Bieber in Saint Laurent and Yseult in Harris Reed, with anatomical details depicted down to the belly button. Donatella Versace showed up in a corseted gown that bloomed into exaggerated hips.

The motif of faux body parts spanned past the chest into extra, extraneous arms and hands. The French social media personality Lena Mahfouf appeared in an ensemble by Burc Akyol that consisted of a draped skirt and sculpted hands clutching her breasts. The Thai fashion editor Nichapat Suphap wore a black Robert Wun gown decorated with silver robotic hands.

Right inside the doors, a portion of the celebrated exhibition likens sculpted breastplates, particularly those that allowed Greek and Roman warriors to adopt an idealized human form that, centuries later, has changed very little, to contemporary sculpted runway garments. It displays the padded shoulders and hips of Christian Dior’s New Look and Daniel Roseberry’s backward bust, bedecked with a crystal-embellished beating heart, from the fall 2025 Schiaparelli couture show. Fashion is fascinated with the human body, but sometimes there’s a statement to be made by wearing someone else’s. No matter the form, whether it exists on the red carpet or sits in a glass enclosure, these structures look and feel like armor. They create a perfect, impenetrable facade. And under all of today’s scrutiny, I might want to suit up, as well—or add a helping hand to my look.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Jonah Tong’s first month at Triple-A Syracuse this season hardly went smoothly, but Saturday was something he could appreciate.

The Mets pitching prospect fired a one-hitter over six innings with six strikeouts and two walks against Lehigh Valley.

Tong, who took a no-hitter into the sixth, has pitched to a 4.60 ERA in seven starts this season, but his 44 strikeouts are tied for the most in the minor leagues.

“We need to continue to see that,” manager Carlos Mendoza said before the Mets’ 4-3, 10-inning loss to the Angels, when asked about Tong’s latest performance.

“He’s a guy that is important for this organization, for us, and we will continue to watch him closely. But it was good to see him today putting together another good outing out there.”

Tong, 22, started five games for the Mets last season and pitched to a 7.72 ERA.

Austin Slater and Andy Ibáñez, both of whom joined the Mets within the last week, were the starting corner outfielders against Angels left-hander Reid Detmers.

“They have done it throughout their career at this level, so there is a reason why they are here and we will continue to give them chances,” Mendoza said.

Ibáñez was 1-for-2 with a sacrifice fly before being pinch it for by Carson Benge. Slater went 2-for-3 and scored a run.

Mets officials were encouraged by Christian Scott’s performance Friday, when he rebounded from a shaky performance a week earlier — in his return to the major leagues following Tommy John surgery — and went five innings against the Angels, allowing three earned runs, with eight strikeouts.

Scott walked five batters over 1 ¹/₃ innings in his previous outing.

In Friday’s start he didn’t walk a batter.

Scott surrendered a two-run homer to Jorge Soler in the first inning.

Over the next four the Angels managed just an unearned run against him.

“Not only because of his stuff, but he’s just got a really good head,” Mendoza said. “He doesn’t get too high or low. Jorge Polanco has begun taking batting practice on the field in his rehab from a right wrist contusion that has sidelined him for the last two weeks.

Polanco has also dealt with left Achilles bursitis.

The Mets are now 305-305 all time in interleague play.
