- *The Pitt *star Sepideh Moafi revealed her character Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi will return for season 3, but not in the first episode.

- "Like a phoenix in the fire, she'll rise," Moafi said of her character's fate.

- HBO's medical drama is expected to return January 2027.

Sepideh Moafi is assuring *The Pitt** *fans she will return for the medical drama's third season — just not for the first episode.

Speaking with Gold Derby about her role as Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi on HBO's popular medical drama, Moafi explained her character will be one of several "staggered entrances" for the upcoming season.

Al-Hashimi's fate at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center seemed in limbo at the end of season 3, as she had just confessed to Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) that she suffers from a hidden seizure disorder. Robby demanded Al-Hashimi report her condition to hospital administration. We last see Al-Hashimi crying in her car while processing her unknown fate, not just with the hospital but her career as well.

While Moafi admitted she can't tease too much for her character, telling the outlet, "I don't know anything yet," she believed Al-Hashimi will find her footing again.

"I have no doubt that like a phoenix in the fire, she'll rise," Moafi said.

Moafi also shared how "proud" she is of playing the character, saying she's received messages from "not just the healthcare community, but so many people with disabilities or so many people who carry mixed identities or from marginalized communities who feel like they've been underrepresented.

"I think this character has given visibility to a lot of different types of people," she continued. "I'm so grateful that she exists. I'm so proud that I got to live inside of her and bring her to life. I think the thing that struck me most is the number of people with health conditions, whether it's chronic illness or disease or disability who have reached out and said how much seeing her experience and seeing not just her condition, but also the way in which she manages it and has struggled with it and the vulnerability that she's expressed through it has made them feel very seen."

*The Pitt*'s third season will be set during Thanksgiving, taking place our months after the events of season 2.

"I know that we're stepping into another wild day," Moafi said of what audiences can expect when the series returns. "I'm as excited and enthusiastic as everyone else is to find out what's going to happen next."

Ahead of the series' return, *The Pitt* has faced a few surprising cast shakeups and character shifts. In April, * *learned that Supriya Ganesh's Dr. Samira Mohan would be exiting the show as part of a creative decision regarding her character's storyline. Last week, Shabana Azeez confirmed her character, student doctor Victoria Javadi, would return but in a different capacity.

"I’m not in the ER this season," Azeez revealed. "I’ve done my ER rotation, so I’m doing my psychiatry rotation."

Shawn Hatosy, who plays Dr. Jack Abbot, has also recently offered another teaser for season 3. While appearing on *The Tonight Show*, Hatosy told Jimmy Fallon that "people will be surprised how we begin."

*The Pitt *Season 3 is scheduled to premiere in January 2027 on HBO Max.

- Bill Maher wasn't fond of the joke Wanda Sykes' made about him on stage at the 2026 Golden Globes, the comedian said.

- In an interview posted Thursday, Sykes said Maher confronted her after the ceremony, calling the bit "stupid."

- "We need less of this. You’re epitomizing the joke. Less of this," Sykes said she replied.

Just as his reaction shot in the room suggested, Bill Maher apparently wasn't thrilled with the joke Wanda Sykes made at his expense on stage during the 2026 Golden Globes.

Speaking about the aftermath of her well-received (for the most part) mini-set while presenting at the Globes in January, Sykes told *Vulture*'s *Good One* podcast on Thursday that Maher confronted her over the material after the ceremony.

"He stopped me out in the parking lot. Not parking lot, where we were waiting for our cars. He was like, ‘What was that about?'" Sykes recalled of her conversation with Maher in response to her joke: "Bill Maher, you give us so much. But, I would love a little less. Just try less!" Sykes had said on stage.

"It's a joke, Bill," Sykes said she told Maher. She said he replied by telling her that "it wasn’t even a joke" to him.

"I heard laughter, it was clearly a joke," Sykes said. "I said, 'See, you’re doing exactly what we said in the joke. We need less of this. You’re epitomizing the joke. Less of this,'" Sykes remembered. "He didn’t care for it."

Maher then reportedly told Sykes that people had been texting him about the quip, and that, as she paraphrased, they called it a "stupid joke" in their correspondence with him.

"When he said 'stupid,' I was like, now you’re gonna get it," Sykes said. "I was like, 'I've gotten a lot of texts telling me how great it was and how they don’t like you and it was really funny.' I said, 'I guess, you know, that’s the problem. You're watching Fox News, and I'm over here on MSNBC, see?'"

Sykes then remembered Maher asking her to be a guest on his podcast, to which she replied, "Absolutely not."

Sykes was at the Golden Globes presenting the Best Stand-Up Comedy on Television award, with the comedian taking a playful jab at each of the category's nominees.

When it was revealed that former Globes host Ricky Gervais had won, Sykes referenced past allegations of transphobia against the comedian.

"Ricky Gervais, I love you for not being here," Sykes said at the time. "No, I love you, Ricky, because if you win, I get to accept the award on your behalf, and you're going to thank God and the trans community." Sykes ended up doing just that upon accepting the award on behalf of the absent entertainer.

Disney Channel star Leigh-Allyn Baker is sharing her unique method of staying cool while traveling.

The Good Luck Charlie star, 54, posted a series of TikToks sharing her experience being stuck on a delayed plane before take off. She and her fellow passengers were waiting on the tarmac for two hours, she says, and she began to overheat.

Baker posted a video of herself showing two small cups of ice water that she proceeded to dip her bare toes into for some cooling relief. In the video, she slowly put her feet in while saying, "I'm just going for a dip in the pool. Oh yeah, that feels good. Feels good."

"SOS. Stuck on a plane, sitting on the runway, for TWO HOURS. Almost no A/C! This and menopause are NOT a good combination," her TikTok caption read. "So I decided to pretend it was just a day to dip my toes in the pool to cool off. This is survival, guys. Don't judge."

The initial June 6 video went viral, sparking backlash from commenters and etiquette experts online. But Baker posted a follow-up video, cheekily responding, saying, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I didn't show you the part where I put the ice cubes in my bra, because that really works."

She also posted that video to her Instagram, writing, "I decided to make light of a stressful situation and put my toes on ice… imagine a day at the pool. It passed the time, made my row mates laugh, and cooled me down 10 degrees."

Baker added, "And although my freshly pedicured feet didn't touch anything but my shoes and the ice, Airline Etiquette Czar, Dianne Gottsman, interviewed here in this video, was not impressed with my shenanigans."

"So you tell me… was this a harmless, creative solution or should I be in Etiquette Jail?" she asked.

Baker then added another video on Thursday, June 11 that included photos of her experience. She wrote atop the pictures, "In case you missed it. It was so hot... I had an idea." The video continued with snaps of the cups of ice as well as her toes placed strategically inside

"Sorry not sorry 😘," she captioned the post.

- The White House removed Ariana Grande's song "Bye" from a TikTok video praising ICE after the singer condemned its use.

- "Please do not ever use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense," Grande commented on the video.

- Within hours, "Bye" was removed from the offending video.

Ariana Grande has strong-armed the White House into saying "bye" to her music.

The singer blasted the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Thursday after the White House's official TikTok account used her 2024 song "Bye" in a video compilation of immigrants being detained by ICE agents. "Bye-bye," reads the caption. "President Trump has delivered the most secure border in history."

"Please do not ever use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense. f--- ice," Grande commented, although her remark appears to have since been hidden.

Her team vowed to have the song removed from the White House's TikTok page, and within hours Grande's "Bye" was muted. "This sound isn't available," now reads the video description.

Earlier in the day, after Grande's anti-ICE comment went viral, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson clapped back — while quoting another chart-topping single by the singer, 2014's "One Last Time."

"We'll say this one last time: What's actually barbaric, inhumane, and heinous are the criminal illegal ‌aliens who have injured and murdered innocent American citizens," Jackson said.

This wasn't the first time Grande made her feelings known about the Trump Administration's immigration policies.

Last September, Grande shared an Instagram post aimed as a "check in with Trump voters" nine months into his second term as president.

“Now that immigrants have been violently torn from their families and communities have been destroyed, now that trans people have been blamed for virtually everything and live in fear, now that free speech is on the brink of collapse for us all — has your life gotten better?” begins the post. "Has the widespread suffering of others paid off for you in the way he promised it would, or are you still waiting?"

By Alexander Villegas and Marco Aquino

LIMA, June 11 (Reuters) - Peru's electoral jury began reviewing contested ballots on Thursday with the initial count virtually complete and candidates separated by the slimmest of margins.

Conservative Keiko Fujimori ‌inched into the lead late on Wednesday night, boosted by overseas ballots that gave her 50.002% of ‌the vote to leftist Roberto Sanchez's 49.998%, a difference of about 600 votes out of 18 million.

More than 98% of the vote has been counted according to Peru's ONPE electoral authority, but most of those remaining are contested ballots. Only 13 of the more than 90,000 polling stations remain to be counted while about 1,600 - representing around 400,000 votes - have been sent for review to Peru's National Elections Jury (JNE).

The review is expected to take weeks. Most of the contested ballots are from the Lima metropolitan region, Fujimori's stronghold.

Markets ‌have largely recovered from a Friday selloff that occurred after Sanchez, who has vowed to reform Peru's mining-heavy economy, rose in the polls. Peru's main stock index was up 2.6% on Thursday while the sol currency rose 0.73% against the dollar to 3.38.

The two candidates have been neck-and-neck throughout the count, with Fujimori leading exit polls and Sanchez being slightly ahead in the Ipsos quick count, which has accurately predicted previous races.

Fujimori and Sanchez had called for calm and patience throughout the count, but Sanchez - who overtook Fujimori on Monday, buoyed by rural votes - began to harden his tone on Wednesday and called ‌for a meeting with international observers to discuss "strange, unusual and questionable developments."

On Thursday, Sanchez said he had important meetings with observers from the European Union and Organization of American States.

"Our people are vigilant, the vote and democracy must be respected," Sanchez said on X when he announced the meetings took place.

Some Sanchez supporters gathered outside JNE offices in central Lima on Wednesday but were dispersed with water cannons.

This is Fujimori's fourth consecutive runoff after losing the last two by just fractions ‌of a percent. In 2021, Fujimori - the daughter of polarizing former President Alberto Fujimori - lost to now-jailed President Pedro Castillo by around 45,000 votes.

Sanchez, who served as a minister under Castillo, has been his political heir in this race, donning the same signature cowboy hat and waiting ‌for early results outside the prison where Castillo is being held.

Speaking to reporters outside her home on Thursday, Fujimori reiterated that she would wait for the final count to be announced before making any definitive statement on the race.

Fujimori, who made accusations of fraud in the 2021 election she lost, said that the 2026 race had been carried ‌out transparently with thousands of poll watchers from both parties and international observers.

"I think that gives (the election) the credibility, tranquility and trust of the citizenry," Fujimori said.

By Manya Saini and Niket Nishant

June 11 (Reuters) - Few business leaders have been as deeply embedded in popular culture as Elon Musk, the ambitious entrepreneur who has become a central figure in internet culture and amassed a fortune that has made him the world's first trillionaire.

At a time when concerns about inequality are high and public attitudes toward the ultra-wealthy have soured, Musk has managed ‌to retain a loyal following despite his stratospheric net worth and without the folksy persona that endeared other tycoons such as Warren Buffett to the masses.

While admirers view Musk's no-filter style as part of ‌his appeal, critics have accused him of wielding oligarch-like power, raised concerns about governance at his companies and objected to his increasingly partisan political interventions.

Still, SpaceX, the sprawling rocket, satellite and AI company that together with electric-car maker Tesla form the center of Musk's empire, raised a record $75 billion in its initial public offering on Thursday, highlighting investor enthusiasm for his business ventures. Prior to the share sale, Forbes pegged his net worth at roughly $780 billion, far ahead of the man next in line, Alphabet co-founder Larry Page.

"The second richest person has been hovering around $300 billion, so about less than one-third of what Musk can potentially be worth tomorrow," said Matt Durot, deputy editor at Forbes Wealth. "And only one other person, (Oracle founder) Larry Ellison, has ever been worth $400 billion."

Most of Musk's wealth now rests with SpaceX, where he holds a stake worth roughly $866 billion. Along with Tesla and the rest of his properties, his net worth will exceed $1.1 trillion when the stock begins trading Friday, according to Forbes and Reuters calculations based ‌on company filings.

Musk became a household name through Tesla and SpaceX before expanding his influence with the $44-billion acquisition of social media platform Twitter in 2022. The deal gave him a direct channel to hundreds of millions of users and made him a prominent voice on issues ranging from politics and immigration to government spending and free speech.

His move into politics, particularly his role in U.S. President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency last year, has been among his most contentious ventures. The political fallout coincided with weakening Tesla sales in several international markets in 2025 as protests and consumer boycotts targeted the electric vehicle maker.

Musk, 54, was born in Pretoria, South Africa, to a Canadian mother and South African father. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1997.

He took over as Tesla's CEO in 2008 with the conviction that electric vehicles could combine high performance with software-driven features, helping redefine the global automotive industry. Some auto-industry watchers say Tesla's success – and its trillion-dollar-plus market cap – helped prod traditional automakers to pivot to electric cars.

Many investors are betting he can repeat the feat in space and artificial intelligence. Yet SpaceX remains cash-hungry, and much of the ‌company's valuation rests on technologies that may take years or decades to become commercially viable.

Beyond Tesla and SpaceX, Musk has co-founded five other companies, including tunneling startup The Boring Company and brain implant maker Neuralink.

As CEO of Tesla, Musk has courted controversy and praise in equal measure. He is credited with turning Tesla into the world's most valuable automaker. Executives at legacy automakers dismissed the threat for years, skeptical that a startup car company could figure out how to mass produce electric vehicles profitably.

"He renewed the world's respect for American ingenuity in automotive engineering," said Bob Lutz, a former General Motors vice chairman.

At the same time, Tesla has faced legal challenges and shareholder concerns tied to its storied CEO, particularly his 2018 pay package, once worth $56 billion.

Musk's influence has become so pervasive that market observers have dubbed the network of businesses around him the "Muskonomy."

The phenomenon has given rise to what some investors call the "Elon premium," a valuation ‌boost driven as much by faith in Musk's vision as by traditional financial metrics.

"Much like Tesla, SpaceX is a bet on Elon Musk," said Matt Kennedy, senior ‍strategist at Renaissance Capital, a provider of IPO-focused research and ETFs.

"A market cap of $1.5 trillion-$2 trillion would certainly throw all traditional valuation methodologies out the window, and is instead best characterized as the 'Elon Musk premium.'"

The concentration of influence around a single entrepreneur has amplified concerns about corporate governance, conflicts of interest and the risks of tying company fortunes too closely to one individual.

Over the years, Musk ‌has turned clashes with regulators, billionaires, short sellers, journalists and media organizations, including Reuters, into recurring public battles that often unfolded on social media.

Musk's alliance with Trump followed a familiar pattern. After helping bankroll Trump's return to the White House and serving in a senior advisory role through the administration's DOGE initiative, Musk became one of the president's closest corporate allies.

The relationship later fractured amid disagreements over policy and spending, spilling into a public feud. Though the two have since struck a more conciliatory tone, their falling-out highlighted the increasingly blurred lines between Musk's business empire and political ambitions.

Yet for many investors, concerns about Musk's often unconventional behavior are ‌outweighed by his track record of turning ambitious ideas into some of the world's most valuable companies.

"Elon is the Edison of our time," JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said during a recent conversation with Musk.

The banker, a former adversary of Musk in a prolonged legal battle, has since become an admirer. Dimon told CNBC last year that the pair had "hugged it out," and hailed Musk as "our Einstein."
