Anne Hathaway had a special request for the producers of The Devil Wears Prada 2.
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar published on Wednesday, March 25, Hathaway, 43, recalled that making the 2006 film took a bit of work to get fashion brands on board. But Meryl Streep emphasized that this time around, she and the cast were given the opportunity to attend "actual fashion shows during Milan Fashion Week."
Streep, 76, said she was "struck by how not only beautiful and young — everyone seems young to me — but alarmingly thin the models were."
"I thought that all had been addressed years ago. Annie clocked it too," the Oscar winner continued, "and she made a beeline to the producers about it, securing promises that the models in the show that we were putting together for our film would not be so skeletal!"
Streep added of Hathaway, "She's a stand-up girl."
Elsewhere in the interview, Streep admitted she was "unnerved" by the frenzy around the filming of the sequel.
"Even though we were aware of the impact of the first film two decades ago, I think none of us were prepared for the ambush of both goodwill and avid attention that engulfed us," the actress, who portrays cutthroat fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly in the films, told the outlet. "We needed police barriers and crowd control."

The Mamma Mia! actress could be seen filming the long-awaited sequel alongside her costars — including Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, Emily Blunt and more — throughout New York City last summer.
"Buses of fans turned up, and paparazzi swarmed and in one case kept jumping in front of the camera and the shot and got in a kerfuffle with crew," Streep went on to recall. "Annie kept her cool, but I was unnerved."
Streep and Hathaway made a surprise appearance at the Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2026 show in September, where the Death Becomes Her star even got to spend some quality time with former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who famously inspired the role of Miranda Priestly.

Streep has also said that she gave up method acting for the sequel.
"It was horrible!" she recalled to Entertainment Weekly of the acting style in 2021. "I was [miserable] in my trailer. I could hear them all rocking and laughing. I was so depressed! I said, 'Well, it's the price you pay for being boss!' That's the last time I ever attempted a Method thing."The Devil Wears Prada 2 is in theaters May 1.
