NEW YORK − Alison Brie is ready to show her dark side.

The actress and producer rose to fame on the quirky NBC sitcom "Community," starring as Annie Edison opposite actors like Joel McHale and Donald Glover. Now, she's ready for a hard pivot, playing Evil-Lyn, supervillain Skeletor's right-hand woman in "Masters of the Universe."

"I was really excited to get to play a supervillain," she says. "I watched a bunch of the old cartoon and she really is like a classic femme fatale character, but with a sense of humor. Just unlike anything I've ever really done."

"A lot of the work that I've done, everything is about reality," Brie says. In "Masters," she adds, "The whole point is that everybody is larger than life—some people physically, this character more just in her evilness. It was so fun to work on, and the cast is great."

The cast features up-and-comers and established A-listers, including Jared Leto, Idris Elba, Camila Mendes and Nicholas Galitzine.

Brie, 43, is fresh off a shoot with husband and fellow actor Dave Franco for the 2025 body horror flick "Together." The title says it all.

"When Dave and I shot 'Together', it truly was just the two of us… like 90% of the shoot was Dave and I, all day everyday," she says. "Universe," she says, is "the opposite" and an "expanse into this new world."

Dave Franco and Alison Brie attend the world premiere of Disney and Pixar's "Hoppers" at El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on Feb. 23, 2026.

Though Franco will be absent from set, that won't mean a lack of togetherness for the couple, who wed in 2017.

"Dave and I prioritize quality time so much in our relationship," she says, so much so that "dilutes" the importance of a major holiday like Valentine's Day anniversaries, she says. "Most years, and I'm not kidding, Dave's mom texts us happy anniversary, and then that's how we both remember."

Alison Brie's date nights with Dave Franco

If they're not big on milestones, how about date night? "Truly, his dream is a home-cooked meal by me, and then we just watch a movie," says Brie, who is launching a new partnership with meal-kit company HelloFresh. What might Dave chef up for her? "Dave does not cook. Period," she says with a chuckle. "He would say the same thing."

That's a wrap on the 2026 Oscar race! Awards season came to an end on March 15 with the 98th Academy Awards, where "One Battle After Another" was crowned best picture in a competitive race with "Sinners." Leading up to Hollywood's biggest night, Oscar hopefuls spent the first half of March stepping out at star-studded events, from the Actor Awards to the Writers Guild Awards.Scroll through for the best celebrity photos of March 2026 so far, starting with, from left, Jessie Buckley, Michael B. The couple loves to host friends. "I spend so much time traveling for work, when I'm home, the way that I like to fill up my cup, especially when I'm feeling really depleted, is spending time with friends," she says. But, she adds, "the prep gives me anxiety." Her campaign with HelloFresh aims to help solve that; her personally curated menu, was born out of a desire for "community and ease" and includes meals she actually plans to make the week of the launch.

She's hosted some memorable and star-studded dinner parties.

"Years ago, when I was on 'Community' I ended up having an impromptu get together at my house, and QuestLove made an appearance, and I remember at one point looking over, the guests are mingling, having drinks, and Questlove is like drumming on the coffee table, and I was like 'this is a cool party,'" she says.

Her and Franco's ideal recipe for a night in doesn't require any star-power though, she says.

"We really are such homebodies," Brie insists. "And the most lowkey people you can imagine."
