Among the crowds of fans cheering on the UConn men's basketball team this spring has been one very famous face: actor Bill Murray.
His son, Luke, is an assistant coach for UConn underneath head coach Dan Hurley. Luke, 40, is one of Bill's six sons; he and brother Homer, 41, are from Bill's first marriage to Margaret Kelly (Bill and Margaret were married from 1981 to 1996). The actor has four other sons with Jennifer Butler (they were married from 1997 to 2008): Caleb, 33, Jackson, 30, Cooper, 28, and Lincoln, 20.
"We don't really have those traditional father-son conversations that it seems that a lot of people do," Luke said in 2017. "It just wasn't a part of my upbringing. But I do think there was probably a time where he made a change in mentality as far as what I was doing." He continued, "As I've kind of grown and climbed the ladder in college basketball, so to speak, I think he has a greater appreciation for it. And at this point, he's as big a supporter as anyone.''

He added he is not as funny as his father: "We're different people, and I think he probably likes it that way." Growing up, he recalled, Bill thought basketball was a "strange hobby to have," but Luke added, "now he sees how far it's come, and he's really proud of it."

Next season, Luke will be the head coach of Boston College. "It's going to be a new era of BC basketball," Luke said this week. "It's going to start right away. It's going to become an incredibly exciting brand of basketball, and I think something that people can really, really get behind."

His dad, he said, will switch allegiances with him. "I know he's excited to come up to Boston. He loves the city. He's been around this campus a little bit, so I'm sure he'll be a fixture here, as well."
