In a recently resurfacedclipfrom the defunct daytime talk showSoap Talkin the early 2000s, the young actor sat down with hosts Lisa Rinna and Ty Treadway to discuss being cast onAll My Childrenafter his character died inThe Wire.
Jordan had a three-year stint as Reggie Porter Montgomery on the soap from January 2003 until June 2006. Little did he know at the time, but the actor who originally played Montgomery was none other thanChadwick Boseman, his future friend andBlack Panthercostar.
"I came in for the audition forAll My Children, and I didn't get it at first and ... Reggie Porter was played by, I'm not sure what the guy's name was, but [he only played him] for like, two shows, and then they called me back in for another read through, and I got it," Jordan, then a teenager, recalled. "So I guess it was meant to be."
Jordan was nominated for three consecutive NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series for his role on the hit soap, which also starred Susan Lucci, David Canary, Walt Willey, Rebecca Budig and more.
In the interview, he shared that he "didn't win, but being nominated was honor enough just to be recognized in a class with all the veterans."
"Most other nominees were fromYoung and the Restless, so just being recognized was just honor enough to me," he shared, joking that his parents told him he needed to think of some "acceptance speeches."

"And I was like, 'No, I don't really want to, you know, get my hopes, if I don't win,' " Jordan explained.
Regardless, Jordan revealed that his mom sent him an "acceptance speech pinned in my suit that she wrote out."
"And of course, it was like, 'I would like to thank the woman who gave birth to me, number two is I would like to thank the woman who gave me life and can take it away if I don't finish reading this note,'" he joked.

When asked who he was closest to onAll My Children,Jordan said it was "by far" Walt Willey, who played Jackson Montgomery on the show.
"He's great. He's helped me out so much when I first got on the show, and he helped show me the ropes. He introduced me to everybody. He made me feel really welcome," Jordan said.
While the actor, now 39, may not have won the first few awards he was nominated for, theSinnersstar won the Academy Award forBest Actorat the 2026 Oscars on March 15.He was sitting next to his mom during the ceremony and thanked his parents in his acceptance speech.
